    Friday Crop Report!

Well this week the tap was shut off! Finally a little
heat to bring on the crop. What we got was 33
plus that Fricking wind wind wind. O
So a little drink would now be welcomed with
    open arms!
We were in good moisture conditions but h
Very hot temps and wind did take its toll.
Hrs still looks awesome but needs a drink. Most
are done spraying or finishing disease control
    measures. 9
Oats disease control is going on its a 9.
Barley some fields are a 10 the next is a 6
    disease will go on soon.
Flax the guys that have seeded flax have a very
nice stand. Flax doesn't like water and this year
    works.
Peas are doing good on most fields but still can
see the damage from years of flooding. Yellow
    areas . 8
Soy. Well once it gets established wow it likes
heat and grows very nice. Second app with
roundup and were off to the races. One note on
last trip to ND soy wasn't even up yet. 9
Canola the retarded sister is all over the map
some fields are a 10 the next is a 5. Canola
doesn't like heat extremes and any thing over 28
will not produce seeds. So any of the last three
days flowering is a write off. We like to start
flowering by the farm progress Friday. Looks like
a week to two behind. Also patchy some knolls
are thin the next is awesome. On our farm all
fields that were worked last fall are blooming. And
nice and even. That's kelly harrowed. Neighbors
tandem disced is ugly but getting a little better.
Over all it's a 7 if the heat keeps up and. No rain
for another week yields will be disappointing come
fall. Most farmers canola is just bolting or going
    into early flower.
So basically still lots of potential but need a drink
in the next five days to continue and the winds to
stop or slow down just a little.
    Be safe!

For WIW, enviro Canada changed their long term forecast yesterday saying now summer and fall will be hotter and dryer than earlier thought. Don't know whether that will affect yields much, but it would be nice to break that disease cycle we've been in.

    Anybody have insect problems yet?

Drove today Kamsack to Regina. Area from Canora to about 5 miles before Melville. Got a real nice rain last night every thing came back nice.
The area that missed is a funny looking greyish blue canola. Area around Edgelley that had huge rain Monday before is really nice. Cereals look good flax and peas good Canola not so good.

We arent used to these hot windy days. We got
an 1 and a bit a week ago. Mustard in full bloom.
Hope it likes the heat. Wheat awesome, but not
in the bin by ant means. Hail insurance with line
        companies, no municipal at all.

Everything growing like mad around here. Day to day there is a big difference. Even some of my thin wheat stand is now looking much better, very dark green colour is good other than a few getting smaller yellow patches. Have to say canola is a 10 all over the map here. Neighbours barley has really perked up looks like a 12 on a ten scale.

I've put on close to 2000km on this week
in Western sk from the border to battle
ford, but I did miss roestown and
kindersley area. Good crops are.few and
far between, peas are ok, canola is all
over the map cereals are fairly strong.
Lots of bare hill tops and flooded low
              spots.

I have to probe a couple of those hills
to.see what's going on. Many of them
used to grow a crop but seem to be
getting worse with all this moisture.

1"-1.25" this morning across everything. Not that it
was dry but just said yesterday cod really use an
1" to finish it off and WHAMMO!!! Crops are
variable here but overall good to excellent. Early
durum heading and transpot getting bad, hope to
spray it within a couple days, its a 8.5. Late
durum is a 8 and suffering a little. yield
expectaions at this stage would be 45-66. Canola
is very very nice and would put it at a 9.5.
Between 25-45% flowering today and not sprayed
yet for sclero and weevils hope to get at it
tomorrow if its dry enough. It is going to be tall,
as I have 5440 at over 4' already. Yield
expectations of 40 plus at this stage. Red lentils
are a 9.5, starting to find some disease and will
spray in about 3 days. They are flowering with
first pods forming and 11-14" in height. Yield
                  expectations around 35-45. Peas are a 11.
Fields are all flowering and thick, lush and tall. All
sprayed by air with accapella. The peas are
between 28-40" tall at this stage. It has been a
while since we had a pea crop like these. Last
time they yielded 65-80. Very exciting for sure.

Well maybe I have to up my number system for
crops. Drove Regina to fort upto kelvinton then
over to Hudson Bay back to Canora. Hm have to
say our area s doing pretty good compared to
what I saw today. Still no canola looks perfect.
Odd one great most just below average. Well see
in a couple of weeks. Anyone who got a drink is
                    off to the races.

I thought we were off to the races without the drink. Rain can stay away. Roots need to go down. Enough humidity and moisture in the mornings for the crop.

I think one more rain, and maybe a
shower will finish this crop for me. The
soil was looking nice and healthy,
almost fluffy this week, a welcome
                        change from wet and greasy.

my crops are shitty but I must say
                          harvest is looking quite exciting.

I will let the so called
                          experts/analysts decipher that.

Why you guys brag about your crops on a
                          public forum is beyond me.

                          It does you nfg.

Your so called friend at the elevator is
taking notes and its not for your
benefit when he reports to head office
                          and gets prices for later.

Bucket what I saw on my little drive yesterday
proves guys don't really know what's out their.
When I started this thread it was to go against
sask ag and foods BS reports. Well I guess us
farmers have blinders on when it comes to our
crops. I do agree with you and elevator
                            companies.
