Patchy is the best way to describe this
crop. Far from a bin buster.

Bucket, I am also not entirely certain why guys in light of others
troubles, post how great things are. Almost to rub it in? I dunno,
      lol.

My report is that canola is a 3 to a ten, no rhyme or reason, no
difference in seeding rigs, every farmer seems to have a three and a
      ten.

Cereals certainly do look very, very good. But this is in an area
which has had either no seed in the ground, or has been drowning for
the last decade, so maybe I am just not used to an actual green
      crop???

Personally, my canola is iffy, but I have faith it will perform better
than it looks now. It is the one crop that does not need a perfect
start. I have had worse stuff yield fairly well. My canola failed to
cabbage much, for no real reason, IMO. One field with 140 lbs of
applied n, my "research quarter", also failed to really cabbage. The
new invigours lost their vigour. Bring back 2573, and 2663.

My wheat is good, my Canary is fairly good but late. My flax is
looking very excellent for whatever reason.

Crops here are not as great as the growing season we have had would
normally give them. I lean towards the fact of all the prior years
rains leached nutrients, or that something happened in the soil that
needs to be rebuilt after years of no O2 in the soil.

It is however oh so nice to have much smaller, or minimal drowning and
      yellowed areas.

While not a real huge crop at this point, I will take it. Relative to
the last 8 years, it is shaping up much better. And things could
surprise in the end. Canola has lots of recovery time left. Its just
      bolting now.

If you really think that by honestly answering
where things are at, is bragging probably need
your heads examined. If you think that most on
here would fine pleasure in someone's else's
misfortunes, you need your heads examined. If
you think that a few producers on here will be
Market changing by having an online conversation
, you need your head examined. I feel for each
and every one of you who pour your heart, soul
and cash into a business you obviously love. It is
my wish for everyone to achieve the successes
          they desire.

Just about every field has canola from 2011 blooming early. How much of that will shatter? Agree there are poor uneven crops, but majority is fine. Cereals are super and after this inch plus of rain and forecast heat, look out, growing a lot of straw.

JD Green, I did not mean to come off as negative at all. I apologize, as
looking back at my post, though I put an lol, and a winking emoticon, I can
see where you may think I was being too negative.

What my point is more, and in my heart, I really hope this area gets a kick
at the can for once. I can not imagine having had even average crops these
last few years of good prices. My farm would be a different farm!

                  No harm meant.

And Fjlip, the cereals are indeed a rocking in this area. And yes, there are
a lot of fields with two year old volunteer issues, some fields are thick. I
tried Cleanstart on mine this year, and yes it worked half decent, but it
sure is not terribly effective. The best thing would be rotating the genes of
the canola to avoid some of these truly embarrassing looking problems. Some
fields are bad enough it has got to have affected yield potential.

                      1/3 rule here again...
1/3 excelent , 1/3 ave and 1/3 shit. Depends on farm and area rains. For the most part excellent crops were seeded on time and the shit was seeded way too late other than where excessive rains fell..
