What should be cut???

In my last post there was a lot of discussion about the need for a balanced budget yet at the same time Hamloc suggested there should be a reversal of the cuts to research, more rail, more infrastructure and compensation for workers displaced by technology. Bucket talks of the need for highway improvements (provincial responsibility but would likely require fed funding too). In other posts there has been lots of talk of the need for better risk management programs for ag.

On the other hand Freewheat and others want the CBC to be defunded. The government provided $1.08 billion for the CBC in 2014. Lots of money yet it amounts only to 0.4% of the federal $271 Billion dollar budget. I understand Freewheat does not want to contribute to something he does not watch or value. Yet at the same time there are probably lots of city folks wondering why the feds contribute $1.28 billion (more than the CBC costs) for farmer's risk management programs and another $1.2 billion to other agricultural programs.

I have 3 questions for this forum. What federal government programs would you cut and why? What federal programs would you expand and why? Would you be able to sell your changes to the Canadian public and would it result in a better society?

definetly the cbc, cut agrisability and agrivest,let farmers develop crop ins. good enough it gets us through bad years and not penalize farmers if they have crop failures.so it doesnt sound like farmers are always bailed out.

cut a lot of bureaucracy jobs,these are the main culpruits that cost the working poeple there hard earned money.bombader and get rid of unions.country cant afford so many poeple not working and retiring app,7 years younger then the working poeple,

1. I think the cuts are done well except to the Senate and oh yeah something about reforming mps pensions. They shitcan Indian head tree farm for 3 million. Pretty sure more could be saved on mps pensions. ?

2. As a country we have to look at infrastructure - mainly highways and how we move our exports. Another rail line would create a shitload of jobs.

3. Can it be sold to the public. Don't know but as a modern society I think it's time we have better public transportation on rail. And yes as more people move here we should have people movers by train.

Cut advertising programs and put the money in the program.All the ads are is public money paying for Harper ads because there is a Canadian flag and not a Conservative flag.

Oh my, where to start!

CBC. Defunded.

Agstability. Done.

Revamp crop insurance so the provinces are on even footing.

Arts. Cut it ALL.

Charge user fees for benign and un-needed hospital visits.

Supply management. GONE.

Senate. GONE.

MP pensions. Let them contribute their own money, and only their own money.

For serious crimes that are not in question in terms of the perp. bring back the death penalty.

Cut the bailouts and emergency services to idiots who use Canadian citizenship as a convenient ticket "home" when the going gets tough in the country they CHOSE to live in.

Decrease, or better still, halt immigration from muslim countries.

Indian affairs. Gone. This is HUGE. We should be able to move on and get past the past already, and move ahead as EQUAL citizens, not using a race based idiotic system. No more house repairs when they get wrecked. No more tax advantages. No more of the 10 BILLION a year or so that is unaccountable and for the most part, wasted.

Climate change. Stop feeding the hoax. No more useless enviroweenie crap. No more.

I will say, this gov't HAS cut a lot of juicy stuff, such as the goofy subsidy based on votes to political parties. The ndp and libs fought that one tooth and nail.

The gun registry was done away with and the feds prevented *****bec from getting their grubby hands on the information and destroyed it.

I will think of many more. Total cuts would be tens of billions. And no one would miss a thing.

I am not big on government regulation. Maybe you never noticed?

I would like to raise more than 299 laying hens for example. But because of government denying me that right, I can not.

Cut everything so only a few of us do well.....we don't need society where people take care of each other, where some, just by birth or circumstance, can be much better off than someone who even may work harder.
Then those of us who do well, can hire security guards to make sure our "lifestyle and stuff" is protected.

But we need to do more with less and cut all the social programs(like ten percent)otherwise its not worth doing its like 80% of tax revenue,then default or restructure our debt(why can't the government just print and pay it all off....oh yea....)

Get the existing tax structure as low as possible,ha ha ha gst really,on money i already paid tax on really?,pst really,really is this for real or are you just ****in with me bad joke bad joke you try to kid me.

Then why don't we try to tie down the ****in money supply so the purchasing power doesn't lose 96% in a god damn lifetime.

EEE Senate (not abolish)
Eliminate bilingualism policies and funding.
Get the government out of home mortgages.

I will add one to freewheat's list, which I agree with completely. Cut defense - hard. Don't need new planes and ships. Invest that money into search and rescue and make it into a money maker. Kid goes rogue and goes down a backcountry trail, into avalanche and needs rescue. Give him the full bill afterwards. If it's 50k, 100k, whatever. I hate seeing perfectly-good money wasted on morons. Make search and rescue pretty much self-sustaining. Sell all public assets that don't make substantial profits. Get rid of Canada Post and let the private sector trim the waste. Can't believe a person is still hired on contract to deliver mail to rural mailboxes 3 times a week. I pay more for postage so someone else doesn't have to drive and pick up their mail at a box. BS. It's 2015, not 1915.

Freewheat.In the US since 9 11 there has been twice as many killed by white people than by other minorities.Agsstability was a good program before conservatives cut it up.But if you collected on it too many times do not blame the program for a zero reference margin.
