Friday Crop Report on a Thursday!

Well not the week that I expected but with sadness this weekend we will say good bye to my father-in-law on Saturday.
A fellow farmer who enjoyed very much what he did with a work ethic to get the job done and done right. Then on time off enjoy because its just a farm. Life goes on rest in peace.
    Friday crop report.
By Friday night we should hit the 50% mark. Looks also like last third will be done in October.
Well rain and rain and rain last week slowed us down considerably. The Canola was just dry on Sunday afternoon and most guys did get going. Standing was no earlier. No one is talking Ag but Ag has lots of questions.
Hrs we got in to the next round yesterday as on our farm wheat is harvested then we worry about canola. Canola goes through a combine like shit through a goose if its rotten straw so let it rain on it.
Yields on next go round are up their with the best and still has some color and standing nice.
Canola funny how timing of the first real rain can make a difference of 4 to 7 bushels. Could of used a good shot a week earlier. Oh well yield is awesome and were very happy.
Peas are all done in area.
Sorghum is drying down will be interesting to see how it does.
Soy is dropping leaf and filling real nice have a few 4 pods and for us that's good. Should seed thinner next year but definitely make the ground black does work for soy.
Barley is all done except one guy just finishing last night.
Oats a few have swath and one guy harvested his early oats yields came back up but not his best. Our late looks better than it did all year time will tell final results as it might be harvested Sunday.
Most have Durum off but no yield data or grade.
Flax if its clean and had a great start is awesome if dirty and thin then maybe crop insurance it looks that bad.
Every farmer out their take care and be safe and remember the ones at home are way more important than any crop that no one wants to pay for. Food is cheap in this world and we do all the work for the lowest pay of the chain.
Have a great week and lets get it done.

We did our soybeans Monday/Tuesday. Easy combining. Fun to do.

We had bought a Case 2020 flex header for our NH CX860 and it worked fantastic for cutting the beans. It cut close, Crary finger air reel moved the beans in, all was good.

Bean variety was Restons and we were happy with the yields. There will be more beans on this farm next year.

Finished one field of straight cut canola but the last field still needs to dry a bit. We had 2" of rain overnight so the field also needs drying.

We are also in fog. Good time to turn on some fans to rehydrate canola.

We finished everything but flax. It will take a week or so to go. The hot weekend coming up should move everyone along. John Deere brought out the S980 and spent a day in the Canola. She's a beauty!

2" of rain over night! We would be done for 2015...mud and water already in fields. At 70% here, canola dust unreal. Choking blinding at night, lucky it was windy. Most over half done, every crop dry now.

Most will be at Half way point. Or like the Manitoba report last week harvest has almost wrapped up but we still have corn and beans and the late reseeded canola but for the most part were done! You can spin anything!

Combines just got going yesterday afternoon here. Some canola dry, wheat was getting close. And yes thick fog rolled in here about 7;30. Everything will be back to tough till tomorrow again.
