So which countries in the trade agreement have tariffs on canadian grain? Livestock?

A little more detail. I don't like guessing.

Can not understand why prairie general farm organizations support the Canadian Federation of Agriculture in its defence of supply management.
Leadership of APAS, KAP and what was Wild Rose must know the importance of export markets for our grains, oilseeds and livestock.
Perhaps it is carryover from days when wheat board and pools were so influential in policy making.

It's probably got more to do with the completely ****ed up job the conservatives did with the open market.

They didn't finish it with proper transparent reporting.

Or implementing regulators for both the railway and graincos.

Heard one leader say that when CFA takes a position, members are expected to support the parent organization.
Rather turned off by dairy farmers demonstration, seem more interested in discrediting government than looking for a way to move ahead with change to supply management to make it acceptable to our trading partners.

They don't want trading partners, they want supply that is managed and are making a good living off of it.

Is there anything grain farmers can learn from this?

I agree with Tweety. Im not saying its right, but he has a very valid point.
Those farmers want their supply managed, and they are doing just fine, thank you very much. It has worked for decades. i would get pretty defensive if someone was going to trade away my living.

I just can't trust conservatives or the beaucrats to make the right decisions on this.

Well, we have exported the majority of manufacturing jobs, exported our clothing industry, now import about 40%of our food...why shouldn't we get rid of our dairy industry as well?

How many Canadian owned grain Companies are there? We have exported/gave away our grain industry, only difference is they left there facilities on our soil.

I heard that it is a low percent, like 10 max., of import relaxing to dairy products. I have no idea what the impact would be, but I doubt it would be the devastation some think? Maybe I am wrong on this?

Of course the dairy industry works well, it receives billions of dollars worth of consumer subsidies every year, with the ability to increase the subsidy whenever they feel like it.

How about we leave those dollars in the hands of consumers to spend on other things, and also have the added bonus of avoiding having the rest of our exports being shut out of trade agreements like the TPP.
