There's always the assumption that just cause you have dairy you're rich. I have 2 local dairies that are struggling/subsistence farms. Like every business, good management is essential.

One of the richest nation in the world -Norway is not involved in trade deals other than WTO.
This way it keeps control of its sovergnty versus giving control to international corporations

Norway has 5 million people and over 50% of their exports are oil. Not many countries blocking oil imports.

Anyone feel stupid that the west never had an adjustment payment for loss of the CWB. There was an adjustment factor, we paid it.

Sale and export trade is always a good thing. As long as you can get the product to the port.

Sorry Fat fingers. Do you know what milk is worth at producer level?

Have since talked to an X producer he said on their place milk returned about 45% profit. Don't know what all he was including in expenses like cost of quota, building depreciation etc. He said eggs was about the same and last year hogs were about 35 - 40%

                      Mustardman,

Canada HAS a BI LATERAL free TRADE agreement with NORWAY!!!

And PM Harper negotiated it... in 2009.

"Canada - European Free Trade Association (EFTA)
                      In force since July 2009.

The free trade agreement (FTA) between Canada and the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) countries of Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland is a goods-only agreement with an emphasis on tariff elimination. It establishes a commitment to review the Agreement with a view to considering the scope for possible expansion of the FTA into areas such as services, investment, and intellectual property at a later date.

For more information, please see: additional background information on the Canada-European Free Trade Association Free Trade Agreement.

                      Bilateral Agreements
Text of the Canada-EFTA Free Trade Agreement"

                      I wonder... MUSTARD MAN
does this mean you will vote for the Conservative Party of Canada now???
                      GRIN!

Ontario prices but western are similar. Assuming fairly typical 4%bf, 3.5%protein, 5%os gives you 72 cents/litre. Then adjust a bit for whole vs 2% vs 1%

Thanks dalek. I had lost touch. We used to custom farm for a dairy that did very well here and I used to know their numbers.

                            Tom thanks for the info.

I have voted Progressive Conservative,in the past (as well as other parties)but this group is an embarassment to the name conservative.(more like "tea Party North")

If John Diefenbaker were alive he would vote Anything But Conservative

The Diefenbaker government made a free trade offer to United Kingdom, backed off when it might have been accepted. Not so popular in eastern Canada as in west.
