    Election Debate Cooling Off....

I'm kind of disappointed. I got a flyer in the mail today from my Conservative candidate(Souris-Moose Mountain a new constituency to me--redrawn boundaries) beating the drum of what they've done. Not a mention of any Ag accomplishments, in a largely rural constituency. Don't they feel they've done anything worth mentioning? It's not like these flyers are circulated in urban ridings it should be specific to ours. At least there was a picture of a combine straight cutting something on it.

Did you think they were going to advertise everything they axed? Not much else to say.

Think back to 2006 when Prime Minister Stephen Harper was first elected, ask yourself HONESTLY if you are now better or worse off.

I am way better off. TSFA is maxed out, CWB GONE, less taxes to pay, Farm capital gains exemption increased, my net worth has increased, low interest rates and the sun still comes up in the east and goes down in the west. I would say steady as she goes.

Think my question would be, "Is the bottom 1/2 of Canada doing better...."

perfecho, I think the bottom half IS doing better because the top half is doing better. In my years screwing around before buying the farm from my folks I was never employed by a poor dude. Trickle-down theory might not trickle enough down to keep poor people from complaining but it does actually make sense. No employer getting screwed with some stupid carbon-credit tax is going to hire more people. If it gets bad enough those people will say **** it and move to Belize. Lefties may hate them but they can't deny they need them.

I hear where you are coming from. Some would argue the trickle down effect doesn't always work...Corps have more cash today than ever before....that is why buyouts, takeovers are such a mainstay on todays economy. In 1960, corps were taxed at above 40%, hence "more" was spent to keep employees happy, business upkeep...so as the "gov" didn't get more. At 15%, what the heck, small price to pay....
True..??? Corps job today is to make as much as possible, so possibly, theory may be true...
Another question...since corps have a lower tax rate, compared to the 60's, has this burden put onto middle income...will have to do some googling...
Not saying what is true or not...just seeking.....

Perfecho, the million dollar question is what exactly is "middle income" or "middle class"?

These are definitions that I've never heard totally defined.

True enough...and where you live could be part of the equation.
