    Sask Canola

I see Sask Canola does not make it easy or convenient for getting your canola levy back. You have to contact sask canola and request to have their special from sent out to you. A simple request from the producer won't be acceptable! And looks like you have to apply EVERY crop year. BTW I'll be requesting 2015-16 monies back and now that the canola commission has annoyed me with there silly refund process I'll be asking future years refund back also!!

As much as we dislike the policy position and philosophy of some of the Sask wheat commission directors, we have not asked for levy refund.

they need that money to research how to get to 52 bpa, 26 MMT and flood the market even more so we will be growing it for nothing. especially silly considering railroads and system can't handle 16 MMT as in 2 years ago

Same in manitoba, those morons wont post a fillable form or even a download form to fill out the rebate. When i claimed mine back last year i got a nasty comment about how i am not contributing to research and development. F@uck off, i dont need the useless mb canola growers or the even more useless canadian canola growers ass. I do support mb pulse, as i feel they are conributing to development of better soybean varieties. Canola growers just a mouth piece for input suppliers and government, and lots of expensive travel. Claim your money people!

Agree MB, let the rest of the chain pay, they get their cut even if we get SFA.

Yup Lots of expensive travel here in ole Sask also. Lots of expensive convention travel here. No doubt Canola exposure is needed to grow the industry.
But get ahold of this, Sask canola for the last 4-5 years has been Major sponsor of Roughriders. They did give canola producers a chance to win tickets to their game day sponsor. Wife and I were lucky enough to go with our neighbours who won 4 tickets. So with CFL/Rider sponsorship, game day sponsor and Greycup involvement I'm guessing Sask Canolie has spent more than 5ooK in cfl involment. I'm sure there was lots of exposure, just not sure how you would measure the cfl value???

So when China slammed the borders shut over blackleg, that didn't effect any of you guys? The canola groups were key in opening up the borders. Helping reduce tariffs all over the world isn't helping? Creating new Risk management tools, that I suppose the govt isn't listening too, isn't helping moving things along. Funding research along side private isn't helping enough to give up $1 a tonne? But hey I can get the benefit and still get money back right!

I would say the Canola Industry is a mature industry. Other than market development the rest of the parasites should keep their hands in their own pockets. Are we the only beneficiaries of the checkoff?

Good points Hopalong and VValk, I like the idea of farmer speaking for farmers vs. industry or government making those decisions with farmer input.

So tipsy your with the groups when you win Rider tickets but not when you don't, your actions will lead to industry and governments having more say and farmers having less. If you don't like certain actions of the organization let the directors or staff know about it or get involved and change the direction.

As long as rhyme groups work on market development including trade issues I have no problem. Or research initiatives for that matter. It's when the Lefties fight it out with the Righties and waste time arguing over Agri Politics rather than promoting canola then I get ticked and want my levies back.

A few years ago the CWB gang tried an end run on the MCGA board no doubt trying to put canola under the single desk. It was a sickening display of ideology over business sense.
