We were on the last field of straight cut canola yesterday. 70 acres left L261. It definitely goes through the combine the easiest.

We dessicated half and thr other half cured naturally. Only shelling so far is where the moose crossed from one bluff to the other.

We only had wind for 2 hours and got rain first here though... wet pods won't shell.

The liberties are definitely more shatter prone though but go through way easier.

We did have all our canola in the ground by end of May... and excellent stands on all fields.

3.5 to 4 mph through all of it standing... wouldn't want to do it with a small or old combine though it does take hp. The Claas is perfectly suited to it.

Next year we will dessicate all of it though... not for thr canols but to get rid of all thr green shit between the rows... instead of spraying after

Swathed, by Aug 25, combined by Sept 24, NO blown swaths, no hail , no shatter, all dry , very easy to combine, easy to see the wet spots, under 1% dkg. Keeping it simple, NO $$ straight header, big new swather, best job on the farm, Thankful for fearing change.
