very easy to kill Canary out of flax as normal wild oat killer kills Canary in oilseeds.

Since its considered a grass i would be inclined to believe ok. Perhaps ask that question on an actual ag site like combine forum for some good discussion.

I do have a possible theory as to why guys can see a good flax crop (at least comparatively) on canola. Fertilizer carryover.

Possibly there was a lot of residual along with applied fert that the flax had sufficient nutrients for higher potential yield vs underfertilized on other more preferable stubble.

70-35-20-30 makes a good flax blend. Flax is very sensitive to iron and Zn so also test for Zinc - esp when its wet (there's the reason for Mycc and its uptake).

Tissue test for Zn so you know for next time.

thanks for that .we have grown flax behind canary but was just curious if it was a good rotation . no reason for volunteer canary ,in flax , as Tom says very easy to kill , can spray twice if necessary . just don't ever put canary behind flax , that would be a wreck !
