Looks like we are getting a liberal government on Monday. I here Justin say over and over her will tax the 1% more so everyone else pays less. So 1 person will have the responsibility to help 99 other people? My question is at what point is it discrimination where the majority are causing harm to a minority. If the theory is correct and you can increase tax from 38% to say 45 or 50% then why not 60 or 70%? Who makes the decision of whats reasonable? I wonder if this isn't something that is challengable in court. At what point is this not harmful to the 1%? Or is it ok to discriminate on rich people. Use the same theory on any other minority group and see the out cry!

This could only be chalenged in court if it was put in place by Stephen Harper.
The chief justice would call Chretien to see what she should decide.
Actually, I will believe it when I see it. It was the liberals under Paul Martin that waived a billion dollars tax bill owed by the Irving when they moved assets offshore.

Trudeau's national campaign co-chair steps down over night, as it was found out, he was assisting lobbyists on how to lobby a liberal gov't. haha
vvalk, not sure,(with those currently sitting on the SC) that this is the right time to take this matter to the highest court.
I agree with LEP.

Really stubble jumper? You think most farms incorporated during the last 10 years? "There is none so blind as those who will not see" Incorporating has made good business sense for a long long time, and yes for tax reasons. But why not blame harper for that one too.

Lep: 7 of the current Supreme Court justices were appointed by Harper. The 8th was appointed by Martin. And the Chief Justice was appointed by Mulroney. There could not be a more right leaning SCC which makes Harpers inability to write legal legislation even more absurd.

VValk: Are the 1% paying the same tax rate now as the 99% now? As stonepicker rightly pointed out many farms are incorporated for tax reasons. Corporations have lower tax rates than the personal tax rates. So would you be okay with corporate rates increasing to personal rate levels on your farm? Be very careful what you ask for!
