So we had a quarter section, that we ran out of seed on, and figured we could do a great trial.
We did 140 acres of Dekalb 75-65. Then seeded 10 acres in the center of the quarter to 45H33.
Same fertility, same spraying.
It was straight cut... and we had a weigh wagon out. Took a cut of each variety on the edges of the trial, full length. 1.4 acres each cut, all four exactly the same distance.
45H33:
Cut 1: 43.58bu/ac
Cut 2: 47.67 bu/ac
Avg: 45.63
Moisture: 9.4%
Dekalb 75-65
Cut 1: 39.79 bu/ac
Cut 2: 35.67
Avg: 37.73
Moisture 9.2%
Difference:
7.9 Bu/ac (not corrected for moisture).
The 45H33 did slow the combine down by 0.2 MPH. It was noticable, but cut very nicely.
