Did anyone else see Ritzs article "grain backlog did not affect farm incomes" His rationale is that incomes did not drop in the years of the grain backlog therefore the backlog did not cost farmers money.

But Gerry we grew record volumes with average to above average world prices. We should have had record farm incomes.

Hard to believe they are willing to put up billions to protect and compensate supply managed producers who have a monopoly.

Meanwhile grain farmers are dealing with a Duopoly in the case of the railways and a oligopoly in the case of the grain companies. It has been proven that wide basis cost us billions and Ritz says everything is great!!!!!!

stonepicker, I agree. But this government has done the absolute opposite. They do not listen. They built a one man government. In fact until the last year all government communications referred to THE HARPER GOVERNMENT, instead of the Government of Canada or even the Conservative government. They are ideologues who rush in legislation with no regard to the laws of Canada or the impacts it will have. They do not finish what they start ie the cwb. If they lose this election it will not be because another party beat them or had better ideas, they will have lost it on their own arrogance. They have no one to blame but themselves.

Bucket, yes, sorry, Prentice was a joke but I am afraid that is the type of candidates who will rush to lead this party.

And that's how you end up with the likes of a second generation trudeau running the country.

What's next Ben mulroney for prime minister.

FFS. TV news personalities are running all over. And have already invaded the Senate.

Conservatives lost many good people before last election. We had a very good conservative rep but unfortunately he was forced to bring Harpers voice to us instead of taking our voice to Ottawa. 18 months ago told Tom Canada was going to get a political correction. If conservatives did not do it by changing their leader the voters were going to do it for them. When Mackay quit I said on here he was coming back to be leader after Harper loses the election. Not sure he will do that now .

I will certainly agree that Harper not retiring cost the conservatives a lot of votes. But to say Trudeau or Mulcair had better ideas is quite a stretch. I have heard nothing that new or earth shattering just tax and spend.

We have a stable country, most people reasonably comfortable and safe. Low interest rates albeit high taxation, but Liberal and NDP will only change that for the worse. The silent majority will vote Conservative and Stephen Harper will form the next gov't.
Yes, it could be better, but freedom without the CWB is sweet.

Like Obama when he won.A political correction is about time for change.History shows the switch back and forth between Democrat and Republican about every 8 years or so.Same goes with Canada.A political correction is a very important part of our system to keep policies from going extreme one way or another. Also to clean house of the freeloaders.

Plus dont forget the illusion of choice. People have to believe it actually matters.

Pete is a real Conservative.. and will do very nicely in eastern Canada. Don't agree he is better than PM Harper...

                          ooops, MacKay not Mckay.

Tom, a staunch Conservative should know that.
