Simple question what is a ballpark number on how much money the three levels of government spend per person.

      All of it.

Last numbers I could find gave a rough total of just under a trillion dollars in 2010-2011 which would give about 29,000 for each man woman and child

I think the annual spending is important but distracts too much from the debt per person. I think we need to cut ALL government spending in half to get anywhere near responsible levels. Good luck with that though.

              DaleK,

Especially when no one can even figure out the debt in China, the US... Russia... the EU... QE is just a wild Japan... is proof.

Tom that number is still a yardstick showing where we are sitting and what is happening to us. I would say logic and trajectory is pretty important here.

                  CP,

                  That is funny!

There is no 'Logic' being used here... which is why an intelligent conversation about it is impossible! Politics especially!!!

No number shocks me any more!

They are just pixels on a screen... not even ink any more!

In Canada... if anyone uses cash anymore... they are instantly suspected of having ties to illegal activity. Even bank transfers take a week to move money... to see exactly where it came from. Few understand the financial regulations now... it is staggering!

Lol,you have got the sand Tom. (That's a complement English i believe)

Everyone else seems to have a lump in their throat. Like a wait what, what the ****,and the idea is bouncing in their temporal lobe and cognital function is kicking in and they maybe asking themselves in all the mindless debates of the politicos why was this never brought. And if they are well read they maybe asking themselves are we in huxleys world or orwells?to which I do not know.

All this is like Solomon said 'Chasing the Wind'!!!

"I have seen everything that is done under the sun. Look at it! It's all pointless. [It's like] trying to catch the wind." Ecl 1:14

Actually when thinking about all 3 levels of government, I think dalek's number is kind of low. Incidentally, I'm not voting on Monday because while all the parties had the chance, none said what I wanted to hear - "You know what? We are not making spending promises at all or creating new programs. Instead, we are going to significantly increase your basic personal tax exemption right across the board. And you smart Canadians are the best suited to spend your own money where it is needed. We'll just look after the necessary stuff." I do not wish to be bought with my own money.
