    Clean Air Strategic Alliance (CASA)

    The Clean Air Strategic Alliance (CASA) has a new project looking at non-point sources of air emissions.
    Agriculture was identified as a source of emissions along with other sectors like municipalities (road dust), construction and transportation.

    The GoA provided the following information to CASA:

    Agriculture Components of Agricultural emission sources are:
    i) Animals;
    ii) Tillage and Wind Erosion;
    iii) Fertilizer Application; and
    iv) Agriculture Fuel Combustion

    Agriculture is a source of:
    1. Particulate Matter
    a. Total PM: 481 kilotonnes (6% of total TPM)
    b. PM10: 252 kilotonnes (11% of total PM10)
    c. PM2.5: 15 kilotonnes (4% of total PM2.5)

    2. NH3: 118 kilotonnes (90% of total)

    3. VOC: 99 kilotonnes (17% of total if excludes biogenics)

    Compared to what?

    What are they using for reference points?

    My tractors put way less hours on them than 15 years ago even with more acres.

    And are supposed to be cleaner.

    And are they figuring in what farms sink in the ground for carbon?

    I suggest farmers in western canada have done their part to reducing emissions long ago.

    And they have part of the solution for so long no new engine will help change it. In other words what more can we do?

    Even horses would be more environmentally unfriendly than most farms equipment today.

    Construction has to be exempt otherwise nothing gets better.

    Put stuff back on rails and canada could reduce trucks on the road.

      We will see how we are represented at the upcoming climate conference in Paris.

      Do any Liberals know what a farm is?

        If any city person grew 1 millionth the green matter to use up the CO2 in photosynthetic process that farmers do, they could have a legitimate beaf. We are net reducers of CO2. They add up both side, try that!
