As long as you haven't had a killing frost. Some light frosts would only help control. Even if it looks like you have little to no growing activity (short daylight) go ahead. Make sure your water isn't too hard or go with AMS to amend the water.

I've tried spraying actively growing quack grass at this time of year, looks like a great kill by spring, but comes right back.

540 grams active , could add some LI700 or AMS as previously mentioned . you will kill it dead . let us know in the spring . you can't kill it in the spring tho , even if you put twice that much glyphos

Years ago, was doing some deep tillage late in fall, very close to freezing up...even broke a shank, it was that close to freezing up, but the next year the weeds and quack were minimal. Think the roots were still alive, but exposing them to the killing frost did it....or maybe it was the moon....

quack is nasty stuff. Guys fallowing that did a good job would work the patches separate and clean the cultivator before doing the rest of the field. I don't know what's worse though quack or green foxtail. I had a flooded out spot which I seeded down to grass but it flooded and left me with green foxtail. It dried back to normal so I sprayed it out with 720gr/ac in early August. The moon must have been right. Got a good kill but so other grass fields I sprayed took more time to die. There is something to that moon cycle.
