    Braveheart

I seeded 400 acres of tillage radish with oats.

It was too dry on land that last year that couldn't be seeded.

Was pretty excited about them but didn't work so well.

Did get a few that were 3 inches around

Most ended up like small carrots that did grow.

Neighbors cows are suppose to be grazing them after cutting for greenfeed.

Except for Freewheat... you guys ... you live in Western Canada.

You have had reasonable crops for the most part...

Your complaining is sad. Our fathers saw much worse weather as I grew into loving being a farmer...

Count your blessings... name them one by one. A Thankful Heart and Spirit goes a very long way... to being a positive person! See Circumstances in a positive light... make the best of them.. you will be a positive influence on your community... and you will be trusted with more blessings. Be Positive, standing in agreement with negative thoughts pushes away the good parts of life! And my daughter is doing her Masters in Counciling and is a Registered Nurse.

I am blessed that Princess past along such wise Genetic Blessings to my Children!

Bless you all and have a really good Sunday... with your extra hour of rest!

      Bless You

I started this tread to relay the facts about what it is like in my little world. Not malicious, spiteful, or rubbing salt in anyone's wounds.

Today, I'm happy the way things are looking for next year for me. I'm sorry and empathetic if other's are having trouble.

Let's keep it above the belt.

The sermon Tom heard this morning will last for a few hours today and by tomorrow he will revert back to his normal self. By posting in the matter he did above he alienated others on here who may be suffering from major harvesting problems.

                Good job Tom!!!

I think the rain we had this morning, while not that much, has likely ended fieldwork for 2015 here. It is wonderful for hay field and pastures for next year though.

Tom or should we call him captain hindsight. He knew everything a few months ago already. Wasn't it obvious? Oh and DTN is the best right?

Like the idea of tillage radish but am not convinced of their fit in western Canada. If you want tubers you can't seed before mid July, leave it much later and you risk being frost killed in a normal year before you get much growth. Maybe better in S Manitoba than Alberta? we tried them in AB and were disappointed.
I don't see where they would fit well into typical cropping patterns/timescales here. Good for soaking up any N left in the soil but if there isn't much N there you wont get a crop either.

They seem to work well in the US ariel applied into grain corn crops to soak up and hold that N over winter.

We are swath-grazing half the cows on millet just now. Looks like crap but the cattle are doing well and clean up is excellent - can hardly see where the rows were. Wasn't expecting to be swath-grazing in mud in November!
