In Sweden there is state issued "assault rifle" in every home, no problems there. When seconds count the police are only minutes away.

I think Swedish guns, while allowed for hunting, are locked up and use for self/home defence would result in a long jail sentence.

Switzerland has quite a gun culture and could raise a militia easily. If you've been in the army or reserve you can take your gun home after service.
