Agree with Caseih regarding Morgan oats.

Good for straight cutting we find.

DO NOT grow champion barley. It is awful for breaking off and falling over. Never again.

One word of caution about Morgan Oats. Quaker will not be buying that variety anymore. Which is too bad. Bed. Our variety of choice for a long time.

The Chicago variety yields well most years.

              Clear for departure

If Quaker isn't buying Morgan, what will be the most popular variety to replace it with?

I've heard of Triactor and a few others grown commonly but not sure how yield compared to Morgan.

Triactor should likely not be the first choice for everyone, as it has a tendency to have lower than average test weights. Summit, Seabiscuit, Stride and Camden are 4 newer varieties that will outperform it in most areas!

Summitt is in demand. Less thins.

Triactor was a dud in easten sask this year, the buyers are saying they are all light weight. We still grow Orrins and have heavy oats every year but we use full rate of follicur at flag to stop the rust. We found folicur will increase yield 25% most years.
