    Henbent;

    The only way that evil can prevail, is if good people do nothing to prevent it.

    Thanks for an interesting discussion... If the Alberta gov./Fed. gov is wrong... in my estimation...

    I am just as vocal about these issues... as the wrongs happening at the CWB...

    I try not discriminate...!

      wedino, I think my answer relative to the landlord's being allowed to vote during CWB elections, is a simple straight forward one. In most cased landlords have a vested interest in how their land is farmed, in that they are often and in a lot of cases, experienced farmers themselves with extensive backgrounds in the ag. Also in some cases, they still have a share of the production. Not all of us are lucky enough to have a cash rental agreement. In other words in a lot of cases they, the old folks still should have a say in whether the CWB continues to be supported or not. Do you not agree if this is the case?

        Henbent,

        You support Wheat Board policy to keep demanding the buyback because it supports your political view. You'll smile every time a license gets denied unless the farmer pays the difference between the initial price and the market price. Extortion.

        Yet, you are content to ignore what Parliament legislated.....for the farmer to pay the difference between the price inside and outside Canada.

        Are you not at all interested in the truth and in wrongs being made right?

          Henbent;

          I know many people inside and outside the Agricultural community... that have farmed... are wise and are good marketers... are taxpayers and support us directly through Crop Insurance, FIDP, FIAP, the Farm fuel subsidy, NISA, Farm Vehicle Licenses... a long list of many benefits that the urban and rural Alberta taxpayer must pay... when the CWB continues to perform badly and distort our grain markets...

          For instance... not only Canadian grain markets... but international grain markets took exceptional notice of the CWB Grainworld projections... as well as the colapse in the 2003-04 PRO... Canola and Flax... as well as domestic feed grains need not bid for our spring seeding acres... if the CWB base of our grain economy is in depression.

          SO thank the CWB, for using your monopoly, to depress our Alberta prices significantly more than a market choice environment otherwise would!

          With market choice... Select barley contracts at $4.50/bu farm gate prices for next fall, $5.60/bu for #1CWRS 13.5 for next fall...

          Instead we have Producer Pricing options that prevent reasonable risk management... and a bankrupt barley marketing system that encourages import of Corn laced with fusarium...

          SO HENBENT;

          WHy shouldn't all Alberta Citizens have the right to vote in CWB elections...

          I guess they did... and King Ralph has heard loud and clear...

          Enough all ready...LET MY PEOPLE GO.... CWB!

            Parsley, TOM4CWB, Yes King Ralph is leading the charge, but don't get your hopes up! Ralph, although apparently a farmers friend, is first and foremost a politico, he bends and sways as the wind blows and wants re-election. Ralph's record is not all that great you know, the whinning and complaining, along with a lack of vision often makes us look kind of du-b to other Canadians. As far as representing us before the Courts, wasn't it Ralph who tried to cut judges pay not long ago, and lost the bid. I wonder why our government can no longer win, when they go to Court???? Duh, I'm sure he'll certainly do better when it comes to trashing the CWB. The Ottawa, gang on the other hand don't care what happens to Western Farmers, allowing Lee VANCLIEF to continue to play the role of the BAD, as Min of Ag.

              Henbent, >>the old folks still should have a say in whether the CWB continues to be supported or not. <<

              Me thinks, if they don’t possess a permit book, they are not active producers & should not have a say in the operation of the cwb. In other words if they don’t "walk the walk" they can’t expect to "talk the talk".

              Looking from another angle - they rent their land on a share basis - like 20% or 30% - 33% tops & for that 33% their vote in a cwb director election carries the same weight as the actual producer that holds the permit book. This is not how democracy is spose to work. IMHO

                Wedino;

                Did you see that Chairman Ritter isn't having an accountability meeting in Alberta this year...

                I see however that Director Oberg is having a District 5 meeting in District 4 (SEDGEWICK)... obviously Mr. Oberg was elected by many of his freinds from district 4... Illegally I MIGHT ADD!

                Isn't it amazing what the CWB can pull off... when they really put their mind to it!

                Shouldn't someone go to jail over this?

                  Just in case anyone cares:

                  The CWB has been illegally operating the elections for years... as the Regs state;

                  6(2), every producer is entitled to be included in the voters list in respect of the electoral district in which they produce grain.

                  DISTRICT 4 producers broke the law... when they voted for Oberg in the District 5 election.

                  AND MNP but most of all the CWB itself is responsible for these breaches...

                  From my perspective as an election observer, it is literally impossible to audit the election results NOW to find out if the District 5 election results are even legitimate.

                  MNP never allowed observers to see where the ballots actually came from... even though the info was avaliable... to assure the law was upheld... just as was the info to prevent a producer from voting more than once.

                  IF Henbent thinks this was a democratic process... I have some oceanfront property in Alberta I can sell him...

                    Poor henbent, you had to learn the hard way, like the rest of the sensible common folk who try to make intelligent reasonable arguements. I see one of them referred to another like "a dog going after a bone!" It is true some of the folks who appear regularily in this space show about the same amount of common sense as a dog going after a bone. Don't despair though, the vast majority of wheat growers in the west agree with your point of view, they just choose not to engage narrow minded folk who are hung up on their own ideologies and get real rabid real quick on anyone who disagrees with them. That is why it is safer to keep them ghettoized here at agriville where they can be contained and not hurt anyone else and the rest of us can continue on on the "real" world.
