You are right farmaholic. BC has only a third of the number of people employed in ag that Alberta has (stats can 2014 BC 24.3thousand, AB 60.6 thousand) I was responding to Tom's unsubstantiated claim that BC death rate is higher than Alberta.

Interestingly, we do not even know for sure how bad the problem is in Alberta. There is only a voluntary reporting system for farm accidents in Alberta. Some hospitals do not classify and report if an injury was farm related.

Obviously dml has some experience that gives strength to his opinion.
Tom, our ag population has had their head in the sand for too long on this issue. Hence the steamroller. Almost assuredly, the ndp is gleefully reaching for the Vaseline with haste!
Do I live in a cave? Or were some farm orgs involved in education and liason that I dont know about?
Were all previous govts sweeping this under the rug?? There is a lot of stored energy and momentum behind this thing. How dry is the ink?

Previous government initiated this bill....just a matter of time, again...can't live in the past all the time. However, I do agree that making sure it is not too onerous, is our responsibility....

With NO farm accidents or claims for our farm since 1979... I am convicted of being an uncaring accident prone farmer who needs stringent oversight and massive increase in regulatory burden... simply because I don't fit [you say I do fit] into your cookie cutter farmers are stupid uncaring people who hurt workers mould.

Safety on farm family operations is a culture... and for the vast majority of farmers who are accident free for decades... this tirade convicting us of being lazy bullies and uncaring selfish greedy operators ... makes me frankly sick.
