Ah Alberta How the NDP will Destroy you like Saskatchewan in the 30s

We lived and basically were the laughing stock of Canada for years. The NDP were bred into every single civil servant in Saskatchewan. Your grandfather worked for them then your dad then finally you.
CCF to NDP. All other provinces prospered and we went backwards. Over and over and over.
The ones who disagreed with the NDP or couldn't get jobs because you didn't have a connection or were a Member of the club left as soon as school was out or when you finally couldn't take it.
It takes two elections to get to where we are and you can still defeat this Cancer.
Because after two they are bred into all Gov departments due to layoffs retirements and new openings.
Once they gain control all is lost as sooner or later big business says enough is enough and leave.
ITs sad that all you wanted was to get a change well you got it and the worst possible change you could ask for.
Phone a friend in Saskatchewan and see or listen to what life was like here.
Europe had the Berlin wall well we had the borders.
I hate to be so hard on one party but they have a habit of taking hard working peoples money and businesses and destroying both in the name of being fair. This time its climate change and if Mr. Trudeau uses Alberta as a example with closing of coal were all screwed.

You can keep telling your self it cant be that bad but really she is only getting her plan just started in four years you wont even know Alberta was once the Darling of Canada.

    Well said Saskfarmer.
It is hard to believe that Alberta would bring in the NDP since they only had to notice what happens to Sask or BC when socialism rules the province.

Alberta will get more government intervention, crown corporations, more pro-Union/environmental policies in the years ahead.
The carbon tax and new farm labour laws are just the tip of the ice berg.
The royalty review will likely send more business to Sask as well.

If any of you Albertans want a sneak preview of things you can expect check out the following book; "Left Out" by John Gormley.

It may only be four years. Alberta will let them know what they think of them then.

So you must have been an NDP supporter SF3 as you seem to have hung around….and survived….and thrived? So lets drop the silly dramatics. The Alberta electorate overwhelmingly chose the NDP to govern, their choice, nothing to do with you. They were heartily sick of the shower that had been in power for far too long - and you know nothing about it as you didn't live through it. The electorate are the people who make a province, the people haven't changed - only the government they appointed. Life goes on, even in NDP Manitoba where we are able to successfully run free enterprise businesses and the sun still rises in the east and sets in the west.

How great was Grant Devine and his gang of crooks. You got a very short memory, what did they take out of YOUR province?

Maybe our NDP is better than your NDP ;-)
Will give her a chance...will make change if need be....anything but the socialist welfare for corps and buddies that were here previous...if its going to be socialist, at least give it to the masses. We had such opportunity but it got f""ked up...worked well for a few!
It's unfortunate that so many are so closed minded about a label...it's really the meat of it that is important. Really happy with the steps so far...little worried on bill 6, but will see. Will make a change when need to....not going by just the label!
(never thought I would support NDP, but never say never...)

A bunch of nutbag enviro lefties running a province that totally dependent on oil and gas. This 4 years should be worth a laugh. Next will be allot of labour and enviro laws to tie the hands of all those that follow. You guys are so screwed.

Grassfarmer, what successes Manitobans have is in spite of the NDP, not because of them. Unfortunately, because of the NDP we have more people living under the poverty line than anywhere in Canada. We have the highest murder rate as well.

You just moved here. Wait till you pay your income tax this year before getting on a soapbox.

Remember folks. Alberta is now an urban province. Anyone posting here is the minority.

Exactly Braveheart, Manitobans make this province just as Albertan's make Alberta. In truth which "party" is in power makes little different. You come across as a successful farmer who isn't desperately trying to escape to live elsewhere so it can't be that bad.

Don't think the NDP are murderers so not sure of the connection there. Why would you run your province down this way though? I love living in a place where the crime reports read like they are from pre 1900. Like the kids playing in the elevator in Killarney and the guy that stole a push bike.
Sure beats the weekly meth busts living amidst the oil patch of Alberta.

                      Braveheart

Wondering on the tax issue. With regard to corporate taxes, I don't see a major difference between Sk and Mb from what I've read. Just asking!

As for murder capital we all know it alternates between Wpg, Regina, and Saskatoon every year. Not much use bringing that into the discussion as it's a sad situation in all cases.

Sask3 agree with you completely. The local company that hauls my grain has one driver from New Brunswick and one from Thailand. The one from Thailand surprised me, asked him why he would leave such a warm country for Alberta. He described how there was so many people and so little opportunity. He thought Alberta was great. The trucker from New Brunswick had trucked down east for 25 years came to Alberta because there was just no work back home. He said you have to live there to understand how bleak the prospects are.

As for the NDP anybody who believes a 20% increase in corporate taxes and up to a 50% increase in personal income tax plus all the other tax increases and a carbon tax and the biggest deficit in Alberta history will lead to prosperity must be drunk or financially iilliterate. And Grassfarmer I am glad you like Manitoba just wish you had taken the hundreds of thousands of Albertans that think like you with you to Manitoba!

What the hundreds of thousands that are entrepreneurs that get on with it and make a living regardless of who the Government is?
Aren't we the kind of people you need in Alberta instead of the kind that sit around and complain that the Government isn't doing what they want ….like socialists?

That is interesting reading your posts I have always felt your politics were quite left of centre. I can also assure you there is not a socialist bone in my body. As I have said before the conservatives in Alberta screwed up but the NDP is a move in the wrong direction imo.

As I recall grassy you spent a lot of time during the federal election complaining about the Harper government. One of your biggest complaints was how they had a majority with less than 40% of popular support. Funny how Trudeau had almost identical support in his win but no complaints from you now.

You really are having a hard time excepting that Harper lost and is gone, and that the NDP are in charge of Alberta.

Every post is nothing but complaining over and over again. Give it a rest both governments just got in, and were both left with a huge mess by your Conservatives.
