Translation....Everything seeded the first of May was frozen three times by the first of June. Tillage works to warm up and dry up the ground.

No such thing as zero till east of portage la prairie as stated. There is a huge rush in the rrv following harvest to work the land. Start with one heavy harow pass, then cultivate. Let the land sit for one month, then fertilize or cultivate again, then light vertical till, then harrow once or twice. If there is time, pull out the sc****rs and clean out all field drains. Only way to farm here. Zero till could only work on soybean or flax land, assuming there are no harvest ruts to deal with. Tillage works takes more time than harvest in these parts.
