    Tax rise. How much?

We all know it will probably happen. GST and PST will go up. Now, those of you that already hate our new PM, will crush his nuts no matter how little or big the GST is raised. Question is for those who are married to Sask Party, how much will you allow them to raise PST, before there fecal starts to smell. Or is the sky the limit ? For those who feel growth to this province had nothing to do with oil, what other trick is up there sleeve to keep us booming, that no other party could do. Please only well thought out answers !!

Short and sweet... Don't I already pay enough? Maybe those who aren't paying their way should ante up!!!

Some people pay more tax than some people earn >:-(

O boy more taxes, we heard the stories this morning from trades poeple who did government jobs. I could put thousands of stories on here about government mismanagement and they have to spend all the money or get less next time , give me a break , more taxes. The most inefficient poeple in the world .

Farmers always figure that they contribute more than they take yet they get subsidies. My subsidies=good. The other guys subsidies=bad. I would like to see government get a lot smaller starting with eliminating agri stability and crop insurance. Then move on to all other departments. On tax rates Canada is a third world country pretending to be a first world with the use of debt. We are now like Greece or Argentina. If tax rates go up spending will drop so the effect on overall revenue will be minimal. We have more debt than we can service at $50 oil so we better pray for another oil boom.

I give one example a plumber gave this morn . At at our local customs the put in a water system big enough for apartment building . All it was for was washroom and coffee and when a pump quit and needed a wire fixed the government brought in well diggers to did a new well . Screw more taxes. Shit

At present we collect about 5 billion for every 1% GST. Depending on the interest rate on our national debt of over 600 billion most of the GST is eaten up servicing the debt. The new government has promised more debt, we voted for it so it stands to reason we voted for more taxes. Giving a tax increase to 265000 wealthy Canadians won't go far in a country of over 30 billion. For the record never agreed with the lowering of the GST in the first place. Would have accumulated far less debt in the Harper years if it was left at 7%.

Talked to a guy the other day, said he was reading some financial article, it said everyone claims they pay to much taxes, like farmaholic just stated" Don't I already pay enough? Maybe those who aren't paying their way should ante up!!!" The article had stated that if we stay on the topic of just taxes, and not wonder away from it, are the DINKS the ones to scream this the loudest?
I guess that is why we live in a great country, a household of two, always contributes towards a household of four, six, or eight.

Trudeau and a lot of the Liberal/NDP premiers will likely add carbon taxes to appease the earth muffins.

The drama teacher will likely add all kinds of extra environment charges on departments. Maybe will raise income taxes or change equalization rules to rob the west more even when Alberta is down?

since farmers are so poor and don't pay tax, why is this a concern?

Who gives a shit anyway anymore. Complaining about raising taxes = lol. The government will do what they think is best for you. If taxes go up you will pay it. Complaining on here and ripping each other a new asshole over it won't do nothing. I don't want to pay more but there's nothing I can do or you either. We're going to get Elizabeth May and J.T. environmental taxes like you couldn't imagine here in the next few years taxes that will solve nothing in the way of the made up AL gore environment scandal.

Canada is still a relatively young country and aside from WW 1 and 2 spending then bigger sooial spending increases in 60's we have been slow at adding government largesse. UK has a VAT of 20%. See what happens when you are in the game of government long enough? I can think of more socialist governments than the UK. In the long run taxes go up. We all like the pork I guess. Sickening though.

                        Tweety,

Since many taxes are incorporated into our input costs and are 'non-refundable'... how much profit a farmer actually earns is totally outside yet dependant upon the top loaded tax rates we must pay.

EG: Farm Fuel taxes... are non-refundable.

GST is a part of the cost of living for many workers... therefore we need to pay more for/to our farm workers to have a decent standard of living.

Same cost goes on top[is non-refundable] with the labour compontents of the inputs used to grow and produce our Ag/Food products. Equipment Repairs and Capital Cost integrates these non-refundable tax loads.

If all food export producing countries had VAT/GST/PST in place... and a level tax burden cost to Ag and Food products we would then have a competitive base to work from. As it stands now... we are far from this standard.

And Hammy....I agree with you on this one....
Still think we are totally shafted by paying interest rates to banks who get their money from Bank of Canada...haven't heard anything more on the COMER action lately...

For the third time already.... when is tax freedom day? If you want to move it closer to the end of the year than the beginning I have to question your sanity. I over the long run I have never received more in "farm subsidies" than incometax paid. I can tell you this, I've generated/created more wealth for this nation than I cost it, more than I can say for alot of people. ....
