Here is the statement from Manitoba concerning family members re workman's compensation. You will note WCB coverage is optional for family members of the owners.

Taken From WCB Manitoba please view the web site with link below

    "Definition of Family Members
All workers employed on the farm are WCB covered, with the exception of family members of the farm owner(s). Although coverage for them is not required, optional WCB coverage for farm owner(s) and their family members is available."

If IF can double post, so can I.

Somehow knew IF was from 'somewhere east'.
Agreed there is a lot of naive howling out here. Proper insurance is only common sense. Hours, i think apply to hired children not your own.
Klause is right, we are concerned about the silliness as it exists in other industries. At least he's experienced it firsthand.
Of couse it has been discussed for far too long with no movement by former old boy network.
Now in the matter of days we are TOLD its law. Told how its written. Told how wrong we are to debate. TOLD who knows best.
Told it must be WCB. Not private. As, of course, the socialist fkrs know "pooled" premiums will be cheaper for all. Told they know best for common good and inclusivity for all. Despite any concerns, firm in their resolve to bring all workers "in". Doesnt their wording sound so familiar? Nothing like a decades spurned party new to power to bring on some hasty "at last, I'll show them now".
Really, if some industries could be candid they would shitcan WCB.
Makes you wonder govt auto ins next.
Must give some on here nostalgic warm and fuzzys.
Cant wait for some union SOB to show up around here. Ive been so ignorant for so long!

Agreed the manner in which it is being introduced seems wrong and perhaps heavy handed - but just in the same way that the Cons introduced their Land Bills and all the other contentious issues. So really it's "no change" on that front.

Good job Crusher...much more respect for someone digging into the details and personally meeting head on, instead of mob mentality....although the mob has gotten some attention. Problem is, some are just confirming what some people think of farmers......
