There is no need in 2015 for a child to run self-propelled equipment by themselves, in any workplace. Just because they can does not make it right.

OMG, some people take every opportunity to shock us - BTO, you take the cake!
I didn't know it was a Hutterite kid that was killed. They learn to work hard at a very young age and they are good neighbours to us, for sure. It's really too bad that accidents happen, but they do. It's our job as adults and protectors to foresee the dangers and keep the kids as safe as possible. Moving pallets, bales and augers with forklifts present opportunity for objects rolling onto the operator. A stat I once heard was that 45 pounds dropped on the top of your head will likely break your neck/back. Just saying.

we might need the hutterite structure more than we know. with family farms not only shrinking in size but disapearing altogether, and supposed farmers like bto who no one will work for including his own children. they will soon be the only resource 0f well trained skilled jack of all trade farm laborers available. free wheat ignore bto he will be gone soon.
