    WTO Comments

    Charlie;

    The Feb 17 CWB Bulletin, is posted the following...

    The Chairman of the WTO agriculture negotiations released a draft paper February 12 setting out the main elements for a WTO deal on agriculture trade. Several key elements of the draft are disappointing, especially with regard to State Trading Enterprises (STEs) such as the CWB, export competition and domestic support. With regard to STEs, the draft imposes drastic and unfounded restrictions on the operations of exporting STEs, while importing STEs are barely affected. The CWB will work closely with the Government of Canada to push for a better outcome. The deadline for feedback on the paper is March 31, 2003.

    Can we make comments?

    The CWB abuse of "designated area" grain farmers... by forcing Producer Pricing Options to price using non-commercial monopoly tactics... deserves further international public debate...
