BTO Feedback Requested: Amount of Moderation and Policing on Agriville.com

This is the only message board or forum I have ever seen that allows the kind of derogatory, vulgar, and racist language that is used by a few here.
Alot of the modern forums have features that will automatically censor foul language and racial slurs. Makes it a non-issue and keeps a lot of the dialogue from getting out of hand, like this one.
Here the moderators are non-existent, which leads to some of these pointless and "waste of time" topics.
I think people can use whatever language they want on their own time, but in a public forum it does lower the intelligence of some of the discussions.
There should be zero-tolerance on this site for any profanity, threats or racial slurs specifically directed at someone.

I don't really think it should be up for debate by participants Joe. The racism, bigotry and bullying is unacceptable by your own rules but more so it is damaging your "brand" and putting it at risk.
I know of forums in Europe where police were involved and charges were laid for these type of racist, bigoted behaviour. Don't think that hiding behind made up names protects posters identity - it can all be traced. I think you need to protect Agriville's reputation from going down that route.
Don't bother with a 30 day ban, just flush him and be done with it.

Everybody has the option to ignore a poster.

Other than Tom, who we all know who he is in real life, how can anybody call it a personal attack. We could pass each other on the street and not know we are Agriville posters.

I do recall the request to have other posters banned here on Agriville.
You ban one poster, and you really open a can of worms Joe. Do you really want to judge every other complaint that comes your way about banning the next poster?

Joe, if you're not willing to enforce your own site policy then perhaps change them. Or enforce them, its your decision and should not be ours.

The culture you allow and moderate on here is the culture that it will be. A sure sign is people leaving due to those who break the rules and you do nothing about it.

I've been here longer than most. One of the best things about Agri-ville is the lack of moderation. Spend time on other forums and some members have even created 'splinter' forums, inviting members to join, lured by the lack of moderation.

BTO has been an on-going problem for years, as he offends many (not me) and really doesn't offer anything in terms of meaningful conversation. Simple solution, ban his IP, not just his account.

I don't think we need any moderation 'rules'. When the majority on this site get uptight and want to rid someone from here, I think the solution is pretty simple. Beyond that, stay away from any moderating or 'three strikes your out' crap.
