    New iron

Who has bought new iron this fall or knows of farms that have?

For me, absolutely nothing this year and last (other than small stuff)

Just curious as when driving around you see some lots with lots and some pretty thin

Unless it's all about the show I can't see how it makes sense to do multi equipment deals each year

Exchange on the Canuck buck is kicking the crap out of new iron. Dollars per hour to trade to new combines after three years use has almost tripled since the last go around. Dealers getting greedy as well so they can finance all those new shops. Most guys in this area sitting on the sidelines or looking for good used , even with 65 cent lentils. Gonna sit this round out!

A friend (farms outside of Calgary) whose business acumen is on a higher level always tried to time his purchases when there was a farming slowdown. He said dealers were always hungrier for a deal. More importantly though, if he could afford the purchase during tight times he could actually afford it. If he could only afford the purchase when times were good he really couldn't afford it.

They don't want it celebrating it's first birthday on the lot and heaven forbid it sees it's second birthday before its bought!!!

Do you think they will manufacture more so they have to drop the price until someone buys them? Create demand by limiting supply. Geeze, maybe our model is flawed! With the reported yeilds thrown around this site I'm sure some can afford to buy new.

Just finalizing a deal on a "new" Macdon windrower.
By "new" I mean, a 2014 but with 0 hours.
            There's deals out there.

Bought a 2014 RG1100 at the beginning of harvest. Too bad I bought that Bourfault drill in 2012....when they were in demand.

I'd rather buy land but need the iron to farm too.

last thing I bought was 2014 jd 4830 in Nov. 2013 and the Macdon 155.

Macdon prob hasn't increased much in price but that 4830s replacement has.

no new equipment for the next couple years, maybe update the 2nd combine (9660) to match the 9770.

It seems your handle doesn't suit your machinery.

Just saying. Shouldn't you be "deereman"?.
