The low Canadian $ should keep demand for canola and pulse crop high enough to clean out the bins before August. HRSW will continue to dog along into no where land.
Even green peas have finally started to wake up out of their bad hangover. Good greens, less 2% bleach, still need a $2 rise to shake loose off this farm though.
JRI just made a fairly big sale of 10% or less green for feb/march finally breaking the stalemate. Good on them for at least trying.

The bid from JRI was $8.80 for max 10% bleach - feb/march del at Hamlin.
Not great but at least a start.

furrow, do you think that the greens JRI are buying are being substituted for yellows? Is this a signal the yellow market has been sold out(except for 2016 seed)
Just asking cause it's a "line company" bidding(never see it here in SESK, excluding feed peas of course)

Best I've seen from a line company SE of Regina is about 8.50....not sure about specs. There are rumblings of $9 from special crops processors. What's Belle offering up there for low bleach greens?

The local JRI has bought and shipped green peas before about 3 years ago.
And ya I think yellows will be cleaned out by June or earlier. I don't think this is a substitute for yellows yet.

Absolutely it's a substitute for yellows. It's been going on forever. Buy bleached greens at a discount to yellows and sell them into the yellow pea market for a slight discount. They bleach all the peas anyways.

If its a substitute for yellows why would they restrict this sale to 10% or less bleach? Why not just open it up to all heavy bleach? You could be right but that does not make sense to me.

Greens do not typically substitute yellows. Two different markets. China market has opened up again and everyone is trying to to race to the ports with peas but they are moving in bulk cause it is significantly cheaper than containers. China will not pay high prices for green peas when there are 2 years worth of them in the bin.

Again we will see on green peas at less than 2% bleach. Yes there are 1 1/2 years green peas - not 2 , and that amount of less than 2 % bleach Is far less than they think . Take the total of green peas and maybe 25 to 30% is top quality - JMO

You can blame me for holding the price down... some low hanging fruit(green peas) got picked off this farm today, top quality.

Who the **** knows where these things are going? But I do know there was carry-over in my neighborhood, I had some(very low bleach)but I don't know the quality of this areas carryover.

Always some asshole ruining it for everyone. I've stood with my heels dug in alot of times only to sell for less later(this may not be the year). I may not hit the high but if I sold for above average I've done ok. Sold for more than they were offering later in last crop year.

Farma - lol , we got rid of some as well , I share your thoughts. Keeping the better ones for when they get down to $7 lol . I too have tried to out guess this market too many times.
Cash outflow too high these days to hold for 2 years. Especially when hrsw is valued $1 low as well.
