sorry hobby , guess I didn't come across right , certainly don't think off organic as stupid . great buisness model , wished I had the guts to do it . my only question was ; are they really free range turkeys ?? and why is there organic food in Canada from Mexico ? big companies don't care about Canada or you or me , Volkswagen just proved that

Case IH, there that non gmo crusher guy from Alberta who posts in here occasionally, he usually gets beat up pretty quick. It may be worth a phone call.
Virtex (?) in Saskatoon crushes non GMO canola. They may be worth a phone call. I dont know either company well, its just a suggestion.

CaseIH , no need to apoligize, I am incredibly indifferent to conventional farming. Everybodys trying to make the best living they can with what they know. Thankfully, its a free country, do whatever gives you contentment.
Part of the reason there is organic product from Mexico, China, Turkey etc is because there is not enough canada/us supply for the demand.
The other part is that it is less expensive, because the cost of production is considerbly less than Canada/US.

Hobby, I envy anyone who can go against the grain, turn conventional to organic and make it. The transition was likely the hardest. It is unbelievable how any weed seeds are in the soil. I swear if you flattened the dirt out with your hand, there would be as many weed seeds as soil particles in new breaking around here. Some seeds must be 100 years old. And as for free range, I was appalled to read that in conventional chicken production, government standards allow less than 1 square foot per chicken (I think around .8)

Sumdum,
Every living thing wants to grow and propogate. Its just nature. So far I have only experienced 2 real catastrophies for weeds. The answer comes easy, get the disk, work it down.
This year I just finished cleaning the faba beans. Otherwise I have never had to clean any of my production.
Ferility and weed management are very important to growing organic crops. Basically its the same set of rules as any grain farm just a different method to reach the same end result.
Transition was not easy, but I really didnt understand the input supply and grain buying industry, so I was happy to leave it.
