It's not impossible , 12 years ago there was a confirmed 88 bus , full 1/4 section in Alberta - why is this so hard to believe ????? Agronomy has gone ahead , varieties have eve loved huge - some people need to grow up . It can happen - maybe not at my farm but in my opinion in can and will happen and has ....

I understand Florian has a Dairy. Injects Manure. Top dressed special fert as stated.

Understand there were some high rainfall years in the previous years... so water table was high.

When our yield monitor on Canola...goes into 3 digits... over and over in the same part of a field...and the field average is equal to the bins filled... it is difficult to avoid the reality that Canola can yield over 100 bu/ac...

...and

peas can get to 115.

We all know wheat can get to 140 with field averages at 100 not hard to achieve on a reasonable year.

Spend the $50 to register for the 2016/17/18 100 bu Canola yield challenge...

These yield challenges are a bunch of BS in my mind. Farmers are not in business to hit lofty yield goals they are in the business to make money without betting the farm on seed chem and fertilizer every year. This yield competition would be like if we measured the success of oil companies or car makers by how much oil and cars they produce. No, we measure success by profit and the risk it takes to get the profit!!!!

100 bu canola is a pipe dream, not going to say it cant be done 1 in 10 or 20 years but it isnt practical to put those levels of inputs across the farm every year so whats the point, move on. who cares.

I think you miss the opportunity of Precision Agriculture.

Grow MORE... at a lower cost per bu.

$8ac capital cost...allows my families farm... to set up with the best systems of Precision applications when seeding.

We got the best ever yields with Canola... with 80lb/ac actual N... and 25 actual P... 10 actual S... 8K applied all at seeding time. Solubility and availability are showing to be important... in these nutrients... quality vs quantity.

We can do more with less... of this there is little question. And protect the environment a the same time. Win Win Win.

400 bpa corn was achieved several years ago in the U.S. Did the wold end ? Do all corn growers get 400 bpa now and get $.50/bus ? Did the fellow U.S. farmers burn him at the stake? It is certainly not the norm and most likely never will be - but it can happen - take a breath - it's ok to try something extraordinary - people thought flying in space was against the will of God and would lead to hell on earth ..... Relax , it's ok to try .....
