    TOM4CWB, Is your farm on the planet earth? I assumed it was, and that we were both humanoids? Forage seed buyers are gentlemen, that will pool and blend forage seed to allow you to get the best price possible. TOM be careful, now you are starting to shovel -it with a really large scoop or are losing your marb---.

      Henbent;

      THis is the whole point of this discussion...

      People can constructively work to create wealth... there can be a positive solution to each situation... if mutual respect for each other is at the foundation of our relationship from square one.

      I am sad that you do not understand this basic human need... to care for and respect each one another as equal human beings...

      for so much more can be gained by co-operation...

      that the seductive power of deceit and greed... these controling spirits destroy us as a community...

      Hope you have a better day tommorow!

        TOM4CWB, So now I am the greedy one!! What a U-Turn you've made. All this time I thought that you were trying to chisel your way to huge profits and hitting homeruns was routine. It turns out that this little old, subsidized, Northern dirt farmer has had the greatest advantage of all, making a living off a small grain farm!! Well SORRY about that!!

          Henbent;

          Life is exactly what we make it.

          If your heart attitude is not greedy... yet what your head logic has done created greedy actions... then let your heart and compassion for your brother dictate what you need to do.

          Find some good folks who are honest, you know there are many with integrety around if you look...

          Develop long term relationships... and trust the good Lord that hard work and honesty will provide enough resourses to put food on the dinner table... and enough to keep the house heated...

          When we are six feet under... we can't take any of the money we work so hard to get with us anyway... so what is this all about anyway... if not to respect and love our neighbour... to work co-operatively to make a better world to live in... and have faith that we can help the Good Lord make this world a better place through Faith, Hope and Love?

          The GMO question is well positioned to test our respect for one another... and If I did not respect your property... and thought what you think did not matter... the I would be all for GMO's... cause I might be able to get ahead of you by abusing your farm and property.

          I hope you can see that these very complex situations depend very heavily on Morals... and it is clear that the Canadian government does not have Morals.

            TOM4CWB I think that we should be a bit careful here, our ideas relative to CWB not CWB are not religious in nature TOM. I am not unchristian because of the way that our farm operates/does not operate. You are starting to rant like a zealot and complete madness is the next progressive step on the road that you are following. When you come to a fork in the road, take it, but for gosh sakes, if it turns out to be the wrong way to go, turn around and retreat!!

              Henbent;

              Good point that you have brought up about the CWB.

              It appears to me that many CWB "Believers" imply that they will recieve an extra "final payment" in heaven... as this whole system was based on a "social gospel" from the 1920's and 30's.

              My "Faith" extends through all areas of my life... if I truly believe and live that faith... I must respect my neighbours right to make a decision...

              It is not for me to say I do not trust my neighbour... therefore I will take away my neighbour's right to make a certain decision...

              ...especially If I have a self interest and believe I will gain financially from interfering in my neighbour's personal decision (As CWB Poolers believe) to sell grain.

              I must base all my decisions on principal... and thus my faith dictates how I will react and operate each day in each situation...

              INHO... this is the difference between faith and religion... faith is alive and productive... religion is dead and restricting!

                TOM4CWB, Wow, is getting profoundly more and more wild! Religion vs Faith. I cannot/will not be drawn into this discussion.

                  I hope that we can learn from what has been written here... and that loving our neighbour as ourselves can be a part of our daily farm business.

                  I hope that you can have a happy relationship with those in your community... and by working together we can build a better Alberta... that fulfills the needs of all of us!

                    It seems that I have turned a simple querry of other's opinions regarding GMO technology into quite a hornet's nest, and I must say, I never in my wildest dreams expected this type of interest. I was also disappointed to see the discussion degenerate into a pro/anti CWB debate. These issues are hardly related, except that the CWB has become the chamber of sober second thought when approaching Round-up-Ready wheat and customer preference. But to see the forum degress to the level of a spiritual discussion is mindboggling. Tom, you confuse me. You talk so much of us 'collectively working together', but yet you are so adamant in your opposition to the CWB. I see very little out there as a collective opposition outside of the CWB to many of the issues you address. In a sense, the opponents of the CWB have destroyed all of the alternatives. Also, you can't ignore the fact that there are 'individualized' options out there even within CWB marketing options that actually reflect 'open market' choices, but very few farmers use them. I feel that in the end, most producers understand these options, but when the smoke clears, they vote with their dollars and choose to pool.
                    So again, I apologise for stirring up this hornet's nest, but can anyone tell me what 'working together' for the benefit of all Albertans really means, and truly, is there an actual idealogical barrier between Henbent and Tom 4 that is irreconcilable, or are they both reading off of the same page, but in a different light? So what's it going to take to get over the squabbling about the tools (cwb vs anti-cwb) and see the big picture. The land will always be farmed. The question is who will farm it.
