Being "on the farm" so long, I lost touch as to how much money is being made in mainstream society. Salaries are high, why not spend it? Why live like a hobo if you dont have to?

The problem is western farmers overpaid maintenance costs that should have went to ownership.

Funny how that worked out. We overpaid but the government/railways kept the money. Then ritz said there was more owing on the cars than they were worth.

Something never added up. And no one knows where the cars are either.

Regarding housing prices-I don't think anyone is worried about the rich person who is buying a new house, it's all the poor people buying a new house that will be the issue if house prices are cut in half.

The Canadian Gov own the grain hopper rail cars... STILL... We get the benefit of over $2/t reduced freight cost today... Because we do own the railcars.

Good to know but there hasn't been a reduction in freight costs since the end of the crow rate.

Increases have been rubber stamped by the cta ever since.

They haven't even reviewed the fuel surcharge for years.

And if the freight rate had a maintenance component to it why are there still rejected cars?
