    Full moon and frost

For those of you that believe the voodoo of a full moon and frost connection, here is what Drew has to say taken from page 10 of the Dec. 31st Western Producer.

Is there any relationship between a full moon and frost? Drew Lerner, president of World Weather Inc., says there is no statistical evidence that frost is more likely during a full moon. Cornell University scientists looked at 100 years of weather records at four locations in the U.S. Northeast and found that a full moon didn’t increase the risk of frost.

I know some of you think of Drew as a "God" of some sort. Let this put the issue to rest.

Using stats and science to dispel old wives tales? Shame on you!

Lol - when was the 4 coldest nights of Dec 2015 ?
Actually go back over every month - here in central Sask , not Vancover or Toronto .
80% of the time your coldest nights and highest "chance" of frost fall into the week of a full moon here in the plains of western Canada . Drew lives in Kansas . Ask him to track the coldest nights each month in relation to full moon in north west Sask - go back 10 -20 - 100 years . The coldest nights each month will be within a few days of the full moon 80% of the time - will it freeze - ya from Nov till April lol - but May through Oct the best chance of a freeze will be close to a full moon. Not saying it will but 80% of the time it will be your coldest nights .
Grrr - is this the only thing you bring to Agriville ???? Pretty lame this time of year - find something to add that's useful .
Kinda like Saskcan - does not realy add anything meaningful - just out to slough foot people

Stats from NE USA, or Toronto or Kansas don't help me one bit. My own stats, and age and keeping in touch with old timers that are older than me, say it's more prone to freeze within a few days of a full moon in the spring -fall time. Same goes for hoar frost in this area, usually get rain 6 months after a hoar frost, so June this year will see lots rain. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

There's a reason why we have old wives tales, there was some truth behind them.

Let's try 4 locations where frost is relevant from May 20th till Oct 1st in western Canada - how much major crop in NE USA ?? Pumpkins I guess eh ?

NE USA is south of the Great Lakes . In areas of crop production - where records are relevant - not mountain tops - I would bet their frost free days are 40 days longer than here and full moons have zero impact there due to the Great Lakes insulating effect plus the Atlantic Ocean to the east.
It will be -5 here and still hang around zero within 5 miles of Jackfish lake . I know - local coffee shop b/s but it's fact . Now take the Great Lakes and multiply by 100 , also cold air pockets virtually never go south of the Great Lakes during the spring and early fall seasons .
So ya , Drew is right - in NE USA , absolutely 👍👍
