I sometimes wonder if its just the customers falling for the deal or creativity of the salesman

Is there that much real cash or just farmers falling for the lease debt scam (or are in so deep they can't get out of it now)

Iron never makes you money but i personally feel people make the decisions on a lease cash flow cost rather than real cost. Then theres the volume discount trap. Farmer really only wants to swap combine(s) but gets suckered in on the other pieces and a few hundred thousand more

        To each there own

$90,000 for a combine that should do 3000 acres/year = $30/acre plus fuel and a header and a cart and a semi and giddyup!

All you have to do is have 3000 acres to harvest.

well it's tough to get 3000 ac here on a class 8.better put the hours in and have a grain dryer also . we aren't the only area like that as you can tell on here when guys still harvesting in nov, year after year.!

A bunch of that is new stuff that's already sold... We have an investor farm in the area that flips every year and runs all green... and 3 BTOs that do the same.

They're all of a sudden interested in small guys... sales dude keeps bugging us to trade sprayers in, prices are close but leaning to a patriot.

If 90,000 per year on combines then probably 30,000 per year for swathers - nuts

I only know of one friend that trades certain pieces every 3 to 4 years or so. Last i heard from him it was around 43,000 per years use on combines, in the 30's for tractors (red)

Maybe his equipment is in better shape or less hrs but if guys are trading green combines and tractors for 60 to 90 there are nuts

                        Burning a lot of profit....

Cost on new combines for 2016 season is $110,000 a piece or 101,000 with multiple.
So as I said earlier were out of the game.
300000 is 30 dollars a acre to move up to 2016 machines loaded with all the toys. Ah if your costs are around 10 per acre now why would you risk adding 30. Get it custom harvested.

So, they'll accept EIGHT PERCENT less money on multiple flips.... what does that say about margins?

I realize the discounts don't come from the dealerships(they may have to make up "part" of the discount but I assume most comes from the parent company). My point is, have you seen the number of employees, "workers" would have been a little to generous a description, walking around some of those places? Do you think they are all "earning" their wage? Time for someone else to trim some ****ing fat!!!
