look around the world would have to be at least 2/3, in Australia we have conservative govt with slightly to the middle leader. Australia is strange we have mostly socialist state govt only 2 out of 7 conservative. We have not had a conservative got in our state I think for near 20yrs highest unemployment and highest taxed and highest % of all ages on benefits.
Last election the conservatives one majority of vote I think 52% to 48% but because of our prefenetial voting system they got in on second preferences.

In a democracy socialism will ultimately always win. The politicians tell the people what they want to hear to get votes. More healthcare, more benefits and less work.

Socialism is not all bad. Medicare does give us a pretty good bang for the buck. Unions are necessary because some employers take advantage of workers. Public goods provide us with acceptable quality of utilities. But there is a naivety that permeates the brains of bleeding hearts that opens the door wide so that security of society is compromised. There's the sting.

Ya that socialized medical system that made me wait 3 years for an operation. I am sure glad some faceless person, in some non descript office, took away my choice for a timely procedure.

Is there any true efficiency in the bureaucratic healthcare system. It has become an industry itself.

Every GP should have a revolving door installed on their clinic.

If they're not naturally busy, they create traffic for stuff that doesn't need follow-up.

The system is ripe for abuse, Oh what a cold hearted ass I am.

Then there is "disability". There should have to be a means test... don't get me started.

There is a lady in our town who has a handicapped parking sign in vehicle for convenient city parking. She wears it like a badge of honor.
She walks around town everyday for exercise.

I am very happy I live in Canada... dealing with my mom who is bed bound in final days/years.

Very humaine and pleasant treatment... we are very blessed to have so many health care folks that want the best outcomes... the food is decent... and the facility is clean and well kept.

Can't ask for more.

I have interesting stories... but being in charge of ones life... in context... pragmatic solutions can be found... if we stick to our solutions based logic to resolve problems.

If you can't accept the solutions offered... change the health care people so the solutions can differ.

It may take time... time to work for the best... for everyone in our community.

Good read..IMHO...about every 80 years the common folk take back some power because corp/money families get too carried away with profit that comes out of their manipulation of rules and regulations...takes it away from the common person. Take a look at how much Corp taxes have been lowered in past 75 years..

sawfly does have a point travelled to Sweden to walk a lovely Swedish girl down the aisle and most are happy but do not really like level of taxes paid but all agree its a trade off.

Norway well is different and there wealth has been built with the aide of oil revenue and a govt squirriling mney away.

But don't disagree, but you cant help but notice everybody works hard

Tax as a percentage of GDP in 2013, Norway 40.5%, Canada 30.5%, Austrailia 27.5% and USA 25.2%, where would you chose to live?

Certainly the USA is in huge debt, raising their ceiling regularly to borrow more. Canada is in deficit spending, so all those taxes are still not enough to pay for the costs of living here. How about Norway?

health care , there should be virtually no waiting lists.
you have a 40 % cushion spend it .
and fix it.
there are a million ways to cut costs as well.
take pharmacists for example.
there might be 600-1000 qualified students wanting in each year . only 200 are taken. if that
the collage restricts the supply to drive up their value. (a union )

prescriptions for eg.
having to go back to the doctor more than once a year for something like a gout or cloistral pill is ridicules .
they only test once a year.
and you should be able to get a years worth on one prescription.
waste of time and money.

i still think that there has to be
some way to discourage the abusers of the system, we all know someone like that. going in for nothing.
they plug up the system , and cause delays for those that really need assistance.

may have changed since I was in Sweden but bottle shop were govt owned and controlled and even boutique brewerys etc with special local brews etc still couldn't sell direct to customers.

The swedes I stayed with travelled to Denmark to get all there booze and sometimes Germany free trade agreement of booze agreement
