We did lentils in the late 80s and last year we grew them it was 1200 acres! Lost our shirt as it rained and rained and rained! Peas work if we get dry or have normal rain!

40 cents on the first 600 lbs/acre is a nice $240 to go towards covering costs. You have to wonder what the overage will sell for. Anyone able to sign up more than 10 bu/ac? Or did you contract twice as many acres as your seeding? Lol. YIKES, did I say that!!!

This has to be one of the earliest I've seen new crop production contracts offered. Some said not alot of new business was written at the Crop Production Show because so much was done before and for more money than they were offering at the show. Could be a lot of lentils and yellow peas grown this year. Hopefully prices are decent for uncontracted production. Sometimes it takes a year or two to get a comfortable stocks to use ratio for buyers to get bullish. Empty pipelines are the Producer's best friend, as long as you have something to put in it.
