Wall to wall lentils and peas!
Reminds me of the last time this happened and how we lost lots of processors and seen how good contracts really were!
I for one am cutting back on pulse crops!

It hinges on Indias weather and pulse crop not ours as much.

Go ahead and tell us what variety they are bigzee, I "believe" most varieties of pulses don't have PBRs. There are some(anything that wasn't bred at the Crop Development Centre) in the Sask Seed guide with PBR so be careful.

And why couldn't all the other grains have a breeding program like the Pulse growers have funded? Sorry to go off topic. Look at the success the pulse industry has become. What happened to the levy at the Crop Production Show Pulse meeting?

So SF3 what do you grow??? Canola is a joke(which you have said countless times), costs are way out of line. I can still make more on a .25 lentil then $10.25 canola. Also I've contracted .40 new crop which is good cash off combine.

At the annual meeting, a refundable levy was voted on and passed easily. It ended with, "the board will consider the option." Everyone was a little surprised that it wasn't a done deal. The statistics about how few farmers apply for their levy back surprised me. Like 1-6 percent.

Doesn't surprise me, hassle. I wonder what% it would be if voluntarily submitted instead of check off and have to beg for refund.

Most provinces have a 1% levy, but it amounts to a lot of money because of large acreage in Sask and now high priced legumes. Long live the legume!

We did lentils in the late 80s and last year we grew them it was 1200 acres! Lost our shirt as it rained and rained and rained! Peas work if we get dry or have normal rain!

sumdum, was there a motion on the floor and if so how did the motion read? Or was this a general in attendance opinion vote/poll?

Tipsy, there was an honest-to-goodness motion, voted on and easily passed.

40 cent lentils off the combine, how can you beat that?

Where can you get 40 cents now for fall contracts?
