Tom4SEEDwb do you support the decision to eliminate 45h76?

The law should be that when the owner ofgenetic material wants to dispose of it; the it should open up the opportunity for anyone else to take control of that product.

Sometimes it sure looks like the object is to just have something disappear so that it is one less potential competitor in the future.

If you like it, just keep growing it. Who cares if it's ts de-registered. They think they can control you, but it's a free country.

if this is true , this is a crock of shit ! best yielder on our farm this year , right beside all the high priced invigours . probably one of the best clear field varieties there is . seed was about 20 % less cost to buy . chem costs was only $10/ac . 10% less N . oh and it was under seeded to a forage and a very good catch also . it will be deregistered because they can't f$&k us on it as bad as the others . as far as growing it after its deregistered , good luck with that ! try growing the old bromoxinil tolerant varieties of canola from years ago . see what happens if you get caught with some of that in the system ? no , they are doing exactly what they want and there is SFA we can do about it . and people on here stick up for them . I would like to know how they can deregister this variety , what justifications ?.?? and non GMO to boot , maybe gluten strength to low LOL

Why is 45h76 going to be de registered?

              What credible source said this?

I searched for an hour on Google... with no success finding any inkling of deregistration.

              "[PDF]Canola Hybrids - BASF Canada
              https://agro.basf.ca/West/Products/.../46H75_45H76_Techsheet.pdf
45H76. New high yielding Clearfield® canola hybrid for 2015. Yield. • Excellent yield ... The DuPont Oval Logo is a registered trademark of DuPont."

              "Disease Resistance
              • Resistant to Blackleg and Fusarium Wilt"

AS it 45h76 is not Clubroot tolerant... it will not be around as long... and even Clubroot varieties will need new clubroot strains to be bred into them.... as the races of Clubroot change with time... causing the need to rotate and upgrade varieties in our crop rotations to stop resistance in Clubroot to the disease packages from these new varieties.

If it is not registered it will 'threaten' export markets. UPOV 91 at work. Seed industry will control seed for their own benefit. The only guys who cant see that are the ones benefiting.

                  BTW

I do not grow Hybred Canola seed. Again this is NOT a Upov91 issue. would have been EXACTLY the same under UPOV78.

Insanity is blaming the UPOV91 system... over and over... when it has absolutely nothing to do with the issues brought up here.

Does someone actually test all delivered grain for variety? I am pretty dum but kinda doubt it.

typo, 46a76 is the one guys are legally saving for seed and it is going to be illegal to sell soon

                        http://www.inspection.gc.ca/plants/variety-registration/registered-varieties-and-cancellations/registration-cancellations/eng/1410971290935/1410971291748

do you support this tom? a simple yes or no answer will do.

by the way tom there are only a handfull of farmers using clubroot resistant cultivars in mb. It is a non issue here if you use any kind of a crop rotation

                            bgmb,

If you actually want this Canola to not be de registered... you are welcome to talk and get permission from the breeder of this seed to;... market it... grow it... and maintain the 46a76 yourself... needed to maintain the novel trait registration and purity so the event stays pure plus the Canola oil specifications for quality control for end users and farmers who will want to use the clearfield tolerance for weed control.

If there is NO seed production using the pedigreed system... the Canola and Clearfield qualities will undergo genetic degradation... which is what the pedigreed seed registration/production through the channels in place provide. This is the minimum international standard for quality control of our CDN Ag grain seeds... which I support in principal.

So farmers producing their own seed stock is going to threaten oil quality? A bit of a stretch....

I think the practice of continually over time spraying the seed crop with group 2 chemistry will ensure that the clearfield trait remains intact.
