Like him or not the guy has a serious chance of being president and even if not still represents

So is it his personal qualities? Or is it just that people are fed up with politicians being owned by
The system. Fed up politicians are puppets? He seems to resonate with rich or poor but he sure ain t poor so why do the poor support him vote wise?
He could be the guy standing there with finger in the nuke button and what people like about him is that he s unpredictable? So is it better to have someone unpredictable controlling nukes or the military or someone predictable that I guess predictably will use the military or nukes based on which interest group own them?

More and more disconnect between common people that work hard Pay check to pay check
And those that own the place of work. So is he the answer to fix the money seperation between rich and middle class poor?

He is the furthest thing from a mainstream politician you can get. I'm surprised he is still in the race. If this was a tv series, he would be the Simon Cowell of American Idol or the Kevin O'Leary of Dragon's Den and Shark Tank, seems he's there to increase viewership and ratings.

The man probably says what alot of people are thinking but don't have the balls to say.

I would say he is not a typical politician. That's why. People are sick of the bull shit.

I think his support comes from backlash to the Obamas and Clintons. Even though Mexican migrants make up a large part of the labour force in the sunshine states, there are a lot of Americans who want that flow to be regulated. I think his stance on immigration and violence is where Trump gets much of his support in older age group.

I think its a sad reflection on the electorate more than anything else if he can garner any level of support. The line between reality TV and the highest office in the country is clearly blurred for many. What a sad reflection on a country, but how fitting that it should happen in America, home of Hollywood. Maybe next time around it will be time for a Kardashian candidate?

I wonder though does he offer any actual fix to the problems. Obviously in some towns and cities in the great USA there is something like 30 to 50% poverty. Poverty is growing in Canada and is under reported. Our system is creating a greater and greater spread and the biggest problem I see is that people are working hard and still are at poverty or just afloat until the car breaks down then to fix the car to go to work a credit card is needed then people are charged 25% interest and that interest turns an unaffordable bill into a crazy debt. Those interest charges have ruined many farmers here. The input companies made as much of living off interest basically loan sharing people. How does that all get fixed or can it be.

If you want to compare the American election process to a reality tv series, maybe "The Bachelor" is the closest you'll find. It is almost too hard to believe its real. Kinda sickening actually, and sad to realize the Canadian system is slowly evolving in that direction as well. We may not have the extreme "characters" but the style is alive and well.

I agree with that. It's amazing that the process that determines how our society will function has become more based on who has the most money to buy the best tv add that has zero substance filled with such general statements that the add could mean just about anything.

Seems like the more nuts and crooked or incompetent the better chance you almost have.

What defines "an extreme character"? Was Harper extreme? Is Trudeau extreme? Would it not depend on one's leanings in the political spectrum?

Harper was excoriated for being a control freak. Yet Trudeau was given a free pass by the media party on his clampdown on candidates running for election on the abortion issue. Therefore, people with a conscience against killing unborn babies need not apply. Go to the back of the bus...

Is that not a rather extreme position?

Not at all Trudeau - wasn't in reality TV, indeed he comes from a family with political pedigree. The "fluff" media likes to make stories about his looks and his haircuts but he is someone with political ideals and ultimately he will be judged on his performance. In Britain Tony Blair was the first PM that they started to make a fuss about his media image, it's a sign of the times, ultimately though Blair was judged on his results as Trudeau will be. Quite different to the reality President circus in the US.
