Rent rant.... Just want to make my position clear, I hate to see a guy whose risked lots, worked hard and had the Industry parasites steal and feed off him his whole life be put behind that same Industry in his retirement. Now, when it's investors who never "lived it", I have a totally different outlook. Then there's the beneficiaries(land owners) of dead farmers, this group is a close second to the investors.

biglentil, You better find a business partner for your distillery who may not drink all the profits...

checking, someone should try that, try different things, old paper notes versus the new plastic ones, used versus new. U.S. versus Canadian. Lots of combinations, could we get a research grant?

I agree 100 % nothing makes me happier than to see non farming children of farmers not get paid their rent.

I'm not advocating for skipping out on paying the "agreed to" rent. If it's not working for you, drop it or renegotiate it.

Bang on wiseguy. Current grain prices and average yields still a good return. Now if you insist on flipping all the iron everyear, that may not pencil out so well anymore.

The situation that Bill is referring to is so much like broad acre . Or one earth , or any other investor driven farm - it simply won't work. I don't feel sorry for landlords that get sucked into those arrangements - they completely ignore reality for $5 /AC for bragging rights on getting the highest rent - mean while others could have farmed it well and tears would not be shed .

Trochu viterra and gleichan patterson were $6.90 here this month... cant remember the exact day. Lyalta louis dreyfus was $6.95 (#1 13.5px) minus $0.12 to get to a #2 for march or april. Forgive me i rounded up.

Furrow, with all due respect, would it would be any different if you accepted $10.50 for your green peas and everyone else was only offering $10. We expect to get paid when a contract is signed. Yeah I agree you may assume more risk but a deal is a deal.

Investors... seems that you guys kicked them out of saskatchewan, now the Ontario teachers pension fund is finalizing multiple land deals in east central AB.

Farma , I agree totally , just saying it's not surprising. These deals are a Vegas shot with no winner. They should know that before hand - someone will take er on the chin sooner or later .
