Just heard about this new canola on which you can use either liberty or round up. One of Invigor's claim to fame was herbicide rotation, this changes that. Probably old news just wondered what everybody thinks?

I told those proud plant breeders, at their fancy greenhouse opening 3 years ago, that it was a stupid idea. Why the hell would you willingly put that weed on your land. There is a reason we grow Liberty canola. And it's not because Liberty is good weed killer. It's because Roundup is a good canola killer.

This is a marketing play.... as I said the other day, first they have to sell you the problem so later they can sell you the solution. What practical use does this product have? Do you really need the "option" of which herbicide you want to use, on the same crop? Pick a system!!! Now you have Liberty canola that won't be controlled with glyphosate!! No new chemistry to help with resistance issues either. Why?Last edited by farmaholic; Jan 27, 2016, 09:05.

It HAS to be worth more....by what, $2.00/lb.?(assumption)
That's right, keep showing them you're willing to keep paying more. This is for people who have to be the first to have the newest and best (lol) of everything, no matter what the cost. Like there isn't enough glyphosate used already, maybe Bayer would have been better off improving Liberty herbicide, now that would have provided some real value.

With all due respect, where's the benefit?
Are any of my comments out of context or invalid?

They are providing the farmer the benefits of stacked herbicide tolerant traits.
I think SF3 said its only $4.00/ acre to tank mix spray it out post harvest. If your out there spraying anyway , add a little more and it will also get stinkweed, pigweed, buckwheat, cleavers and you will have good clean canola stubble for canola next year.
Its all about the benefit.

Generally the simplest answer is the right one, and in this case its no different.
Capture all the RR acres and the Liberty acres with one stop shopping.
One of the biggest lies to farmers has been glufosinate and a group 1 graminicide are a good combo for herbicide rotation and/or resistance strategy.Last edited by tweety; Jan 27, 2016, 09:45.

There is some synergies with the mix. But if your relying on the group one...it's still group one.
Group 10 "could" be a good thing if they could find away to increase it's efficacy. Kinda weak.

Canola on canola stubble happens a lot. I literally have seen it with 3 different neighbors. One guy, rents from an older widow, last year of existing contract, he plants canola on canola. An 82 year old woman pulls out the contract and shows the farmer his breach of contract.
He wrote her a modest cheque as a penalty. The farmer continued being the smartest person in the room. Its discouraging watching a 60 year old farmer take advantage of an old lady and then behave like he is the smartest and best thing that ever happened on earth. Its like he is in grade 7 and has to impress everyone, but in reality he is a ****ing dodgy crook. I really hate those kind of people. They are old enough to understand right from wrong.
