Hey guys, long time listener first time caller. What are everyone's thoughts on the canola futures? They are in a free fall as of late. Where are they headed and how does this affect everyones plans going forward? Was looking at more canola acres this spring but not sure what to do now. Everyone's thoughts are welcome!

Yes, canola futures have taken a hit lately. Too risky to grow at this price with today's costs. If it doesn't turn around , guys will be cancelling seed and acres will be down big time this spring.Minniapolis wheat trading under 5 bucks, spring wheat acres will be down a lot too. These acres will be replaced with soybeans and pulses

Farm deliveries week ending Jan 31 were 317,000 tonnes.
Commercial stocks and in transit were up over 6% compared to last week
and over 14% compared to last year.

Basis steady so far at the crush plant. Futures caved after the gravestone doji (close enough) was printed on Jan 22. Cash prices down.
Old crop canola is looking a little like a hot potato right now.

New crop is doing somewhat better. Nov went to carry over July on
Feb 1. 10.50 new crop is still being offered here and there but I think it will be
slip slidinngggg away very soon.
