We are getting far to much omega 6 in our diet. Also the burn points of the unsaturated fats is much lower then saturated this leads to the release of free radicals. Vegtable oils can also go rancid very quickly and our noses can not detect it especially flax, that makes them very real poisons

But a life without miracle whip is a life not worth living lol

Does the good fat, bad fat debate leave you confused about what you should eat and what you shouldn't?

Recent research has found that polyunsaturated fats can actually protect the heart and dramatically lower risk of heart problems. This study included detailed dietary information involving 3.8 billion people in 186 countries. Citing it, cardiovascular thoracic surgeon Dr.Ramakanta Panda said, "Food plays a crucial role in decreasing your risk for heart disease. A major portion of the Indian diet consists of carbohydrates and less of protein and good fats.

One should eat more fruits, vegetables, dry fruits (almonds, walnuts) and fish, which are good fats. Researchers found that eating too little vegetable oils contributes to more heart-related deaths than eating saturated fats. Dr Dariush Mozaffarian, nutritionist said, "Only 3.6 per cent of global heart deaths can be attributed to eating too much saturated fat, while just over 10 per cent can be traced to eating too little plant oils — a three-fold difference."

        What are good fats?
Dr Nilesh Gautam, preventive cardiologist says, "Good fats come mainly from vegetables, nuts, seeds and fish. They differ from saturated fats by having fewer hydrogen atoms bonded to their carbon chains. Healthy fats are liquid at room temperature." There are two broad categories of beneficial fats — monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats.

Monounsaturated fats - These include olive, peanut, canola oils, avocados, and most nuts, as well as high-oleic safflower and sunflower oils.

Polyunsaturated fats - Polyunsaturated fats are essential fats that are required for normal body functions but our body can't make them and so, one must get them from food. These fats are used to build cell membranes and the covering of nerves. They are needed for blood clotting, muscle movement, and inflammation. Eating polyunsaturated fats in place of saturated fats or highly refined carbohydrates, reduces harmful LDL cholesterol and improves your cholesterol profile. It also lowers triglycerides.

        What are bad fats?
Trans fat, a by-product of hydrogenation, is the worst dietary fat. Eating foods rich in trans fats increases the amount of harmful low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol in the bloodstream and reduces the amount of beneficial HDL cholesterol. Trans fats create inflammation, which is linked to heart disease, stroke, diabetes, and other chronic conditions. They contribute to insulin resistance, which increases the risk of developing type 2 diabetes. Research indicates that trans fats can harm health in even small amounts.

How can bad fats affect your heart?

Dr Santosh Kumar Dora, cardiac electro physiologist says, "Both bad fats, saturated and trans, are harmful to the heart. Most foods that contain these are solid at room temperature — butter, margarine, animal fat etc. These fats should be avoided or eaten very sparingly."

Saturated fat increases blood cholesterol and LDL levels, especially when combined with a diet high in refined carbohydrates. It is present in fatty cuts of lamb, pork, poultry skin, whole milk, butter, cheese, oils like coconut oil and palm oil etc. Trans fatty acid is present in fried foods (French fries, donuts), margarine, backed foods (cookies, cakes, pastries). Not more than 20-35 per cent of daily calorie requirement should come from fat and not more than 10 per cent of daily calorie requirement should come from saturated fat. Have good fats which are useful for the body. It is important to remember that fat is a necessary nutrient in our diet. We should mainly take the good fat and not too much of bad fat.

        Food for heart health
Dr Tilak Suvarna, senior interventional cardiologist says, "Eat foods with healthy fats to decrease your risk of heart disease. Have walnuts, almond, hazelnuts that have omega-3 fatty acids, avocado, salmon, herrings, sardines, tofu, soy bean, sunflower, pumpkin and sesame seeds and olive, sunflower, safflower and canola oil. Include fruits and vegetables that have carotenoids, fibre and vitamins."

The body can process saturated fats. Butter has been given a bad rap for no good reason. There's two sides to all these studies. And then there's the rest of the story. All things in moderation.

you will not have enough time to google what you do or don't know to combat.

Ho-hum... Slow news week or maybe February blahs. So, in the great Canadian tradition I propose a compromise and a whole new marketing opportunity - Buttmar. Can also be used as a substitute for K-Y-Jelly. Just don't recycle!

you guys have to start eat hemp food products.
Perfect ration of 3:1 omega 6 to omega 3 polyunsaturated fats. Easily digestible protein.
Taking 2 tablespoons a day of hemp seed oil lowers cholesterol, and lowers blood pressure. The only side effect of taking hemp seed oil is, that it thins the blood, so it can exaggerate the use of blood thinners like warafin etc.

Manitoba Harvest is in lots of stores.
oh yeah, make sure you buy ORGANIC hemp food products.

Mustard, I do the same. I figured I should eat some because I was growing it. The skeptic in me wanted to see what the fuss was all about. I was hooked after the third breakfast. I just was not hungry, or "fuller" longer into the day.
So, then the skeptic in me wanted to know why. This led to days and months of internet research about hemp. Those hippies on the internet are pretty smart. I can not find better plant based, raw, single ingredient, high protein, no additives nutrition anywhere. oh yeah...ORGANIC

I found a research document on hemp seed oil. It is anticholestorolemic, antiseptic, analgesic, anti-inflammatory.

I do like to mix it with a little booze and smoke everyday, just for balance.

hobby, you never specified what kind of smoke. The kind no one admits inhaling?

Ok...a new low... smoking pot and not inhaling is like intercourse without climax. Come on people...its Friday, time to cut loose a little.

How did we get from margarine to this?
