I have about $200 per acre available. I don't need that much of course but it is really nice to have lines available from different retailers. When I first started I had to often buy someplace because that was where I had credit and it drove me crazy. In a perfect world I would have a full input package at every retailer I deal with then it is simply a matter of price and service shopping.

Not to offer unsolicited advice Klause but I wouldn't be afraid to ask for more/increases. Especially from different retailers. If you have Patterson/Richardson close by they are separate from FCC and it is nice to have some outside of them.

Lots of things we don't do around here, use an operating line is one of them. Still manage to get by.

Without inherited land to anchor the place you will likely fail and should sell while there are still buyers. In a protracted period of deflation it will be impossible to keep costs under revenue. It is the free inherited land that does that for you.

The difference is many quarters were bought and paid for with one crop. And the banks didn't finance the deal. The farmers did the deal amongst themselves.

Try that today.

But then again at age 52 I am still hoping for that inherited land option to come my way.
