Bob of the North. Well let's just say that we were so close to bankruptcy in the early 90's that even "pay day loans" would have passed on Us

      Looking back that's not true.

Only those that had blinders on would say that.

How many people would put their hand up saying they would default on saskatchewan back then.

I was buying saskatchewan bonds because I thought the vision made sense.

What vision can you invest in by the saskparty today?

In my world, the first $5 billion should not have been allowed, and all else after it would not have happened.

But, what the hell, now we have P3's to cover that for the Sask party.

It never ceases to amaze me how the left/Ndp insists that if the money didn't go through the governments hands it was lost or never existed. I moved to Saskatchewan from Alberta in late 2008. This is now home I know make fun of Alberta like I have lived here all my life.It was a great decision for myself and my family. The guy running the Tim Hortons in Weyburn, the Mother whose children have all moved back, the kid who struggled in school but now has a good job welding, and yes even the farmer are profoundly better off than they were 7 years ago. Money does not have to flow through the governments hands for it to make a real difference, then only the politically connected or elite benefit, it is when it flows through the hands of the average joe that it makes the lives of the masses better. And in the case of Saskatchewan much better.

The artificially too high price of oil worldwide has caused countries such as ours all focused on oil to become way more vulnerable and less adapt to take advantage of future the real changes we need to make.

If you were a farmer next to oil and were either small enough to have a job in the patch or big enough to owns company in the patch that is good for you. But if you have nothing to do with the patch farmer or otherwise the oil development has been nothing but a huge cost for you and municipalities. That welder you talk about is charging farmers probably 3 times what should be charges because of he patch. And that's the same for anything there including truck drivers.

The rest of us have been scammed by oil industry for decades. Oh my we re going to run out in ten years so have to dig everywhere have to start wars etc etc.

If it wasn't for good luck of oil going down and the dollar crashing tell me what a bushel of canola would be? 6 or 7 bucks and fuel would be 1:50 a litre, tell me a farm that wouldn't be in trouble especially when if oil was booming interest rates would be going up. Tell me how many farms or everyday people or businesses not connected to oil could handle that price of fuel, interest rates and what would likely be a welder charging 4 times what they should?

So the reality is the oil is only good for those in it or oil s buddies with inside info on land deals etc. For the rest of us it's s shit show if you are a true farmer you don't want oil to develop here.

Some of you guys need to take a deep breath, sit back and actually think for a while.

Oil is just another commodity - the price goes up and the price comes back down. When OPEC drove the oil price skyward in the 70's some of us are old enough to remember what a shock that was to the economy. It went up for a long time but now its come back down. The only difference this time is we've got a bunch of chicken littles telling us we can't use oil because its bad for the planet. Once we get past that nonsense someone will figure out that cheap oil is a good thing for manufacturers and most industries, including agriculture.

Haha well I agree cheap oil is good for now.
But some if you guys need to realize that governments that are puppets and all in to oil the goal is not cheap oil, am I right or wrong? They are doing everything they can to increase price of oil. If we had half a brain we d have leaders that do the opposite provide cheap oil to our country all the time no matter what. What a real advantage all of us would have here.
High oil has killed our manufacturing and secondary of everything especially in agriculture.

Need a leader that thinks if more than just he oil puppet masters.

I don t agree with the carbon premise. But if it is wealth redistribution it's better Canadians get it than the oil companies that aren't paying enough to all of us for the right to take our oil. After 100 dollar oil we re debating who pays to clean up some of these wells wow what a frkn joke.

I suspect that at some point the many Middle East, African, and other oil producers will turn on Saudi Arabia and will refuse to see their economies destroyed by cheap oil. The backlash will be fierce and then watch the price of crude. These cycles repeat. We are in no way ready to replace fossil fuels in our economies. The world has been convinced that villanizing carbon as the cause of climate change is popular and tax generating, but is not realistic. IMHO

We re not ready because oil controls the puppets if we wanted to don't you think by now we wouldn't need a solar panel the size of a football field to light a house? So yes you re right but wventually someone somewhere will develope something that will overnight make oil obsolete if they don't get killed before they show it to the world.
In the mean time we will pay stupid high price for oil not because the world is short but because oil controls the puppets and rhe puppets control us the minor puppets. And it won't matter whether we buy the oil domestic or foreign. Domestic actually costs other industries like is farmers and any other major producing sectors greatly. But the main puppets but off enough people to keep the wheel spinning until you get enough people like in. Alberta that realize the whole oil scam isn't good for most, it's when democracy actually finally works. Key is whether there is something decent to replace the muppets.
