Piper should be the one calling the tune?

We need some fundamental principle's in a society.

Anyone still believe that the "piper has any right at all to be involved in calling the tune he may desire to play"

Please explain that principle and how that would work when a democratically elected government only has 40% of the vote but has the majority of the seats?

We could try weighted voting based on the amount of income tax you pay. The more you pay the more votes you get.

Or Donald has Billions so should we let him call the tune?

Or we could let the Westons, Bronfmans, and the top 10% richest Canadians call the tune.

Or were you thinking that individual tax payers with their numerous views on any issue will call the tune? We could form taxpayer commitees to call the tune. That should be fun.

Well it goes along the nursery story about the little red hen that gathered seeds all year and then in the winter everyone helped themselves to what she had worked hard for.

And as I recall...the lesson was that it should come as no suprise than the little red hen no longer continued what she had been doing.

Thanks for demonstrating that your way of looking at the CWB; or necessary major pipelines that end up miles longer just to route around unreasonable concerns of very samall minority holdouts are how every issue is headed in the current way of looking at the world by bureauocrats and "our" leadership focused on environmental issues; pollution caused by just too many people and not supporting the actual businesses and taxpayers who are the real foundation of Canada.

If only people would be willing to see more than self interest and holding every last initiative hostage to their way of looking at things. Such projects as the Uplands and associated Energy East pippelines would be good for Canada and landowners through whose land the lines should pass. A concensus should even be developed to make substantial improvement to reducing impact of lines that would operate in the most efficient manner to transport liquids

But as you may/should know it has been proven that one person can sabotage efforts that sure looked to be arrived at through the most democratic process; and being "railroaded" takes on a definition of it's own. As with most people; the demanded concessions end up with delays and probably make project not even feasable. Certainly not the most environmentally friendly.

Congratulations. You win and society loses. Feel free to have the last word. Bye

      Hope that helps.

I do understand what you mean.

If the piper calls the tune you want and takes care of your self interests, you are happy.

But if anyone else has a different opinion you don't agree with, then they must be wrong.

          Good points.

In your example of Energy East, the enviro-kook wings in Quebec had to add another "process", "study", etc when they are actually opposed to Western Canadian oil and seeing the west being the economic engine of Canada.....unfortunately PM Selfie took Quebec's side.

            Just to clarify.
Quebec's injunction was to make the energy east pipeline that crosses Quebec subject to a provincial environmental assessment. They have not decided for or against the pipeline but want to apply Quebec's environmental assessment process.

Nebraska land owners, British Columbia, and numerous First Nations along with many many landowners have raised environmental concerns about other pipeline projects.

There have been lots of problems with the way the oil and gas industry has treated landowners when it comes to pipelines and well development.

If you think the oil industry should decide how everything should be done you are out of touch with many landowners who deal with this every day.
