Subject to final grade & dockage

Does anyone have any experience with CGC subject to final grade & dockage service?
How does it work and what is the cost? Did you get results back fairly quickly and is the information they provide beneficial? Would like to hear about your experience.

My understanding is that if you go this route the CGC's ruling is binding on both parties.

Usually within 10 days. We usually send to Winnipeg and results have been satisfactory. Sometimes we've had disappointing results. If you are sure they are wrong, you can ask for a regrade and another pair of eyes look at it. For an international sale, we use SGS that is recognized worldwide.

If the quality was suspect from the beginning, I would have checked to see what you have before you start marketing it. Knowing will help market it and give you realistic expectations.   Your bin samples won't hold any water....its unload that matters. But good representative bin samples will go a long way to knowing what you have if nothing goes wrong in storage. If something bad happened to it during storage....that is a game changer.

Be prepared for the possibility of the grade going against you..... just saying.

Especially if you post here and are on the "list".

Have always sent samples to CGC right after harvest to know what I'm working with before I go to the grain co. Has worked for many years.

If you don't know how to assess your own produce, getting 3rd party assessment is a good start.
However they aren't on site when you deliver, to watch to see that protein, dockage and for any human error that might/does happen at time of unload. It is up to farmers to watch so that they know when or if they should be sending to CGC for binding results or to address the issue at that time.
