That was a great sale!First Class. The farmer even gave away a brand new zero turn mower. Kramers work hard for the owners on their big day.

And the usual 20mins on a pail of bent nails I imagine

Back that pail of nails up again...... Raise the hoist to see the bottom side of that Pail..... Boys you know what the coop would want for this pail in town

They certainly piss around enough. Richies are the opposite. Need it about in the middle. Though with the internet bidding kramers have no choice but to be going on big stuff by 1.

Not much ****ing around at Ritchies....you either want it or you don't.

What works best....you either shit or get off the pot(creates a sense of urgency) or you're given time to think and bid more times? Probably equal results

Gotta like those fees. ...the seller gets nailed for the negotiated commission and the buyer pays 10% on items up to $2500 or 2.5% on items over $2500 up to a maximum of $950 (2.5% of a $38K item)at a Rb Auction yard. I guess they have to pay for the auction site and staff some how.

That buyers fee pisses me off. If u can't make enough with the sale then their cost are to high. To much staff and to fancy a facilities.

Think Richies are suited to big stuff like selling cats by the hundreds. Kramers are meant for farm auctions plain and simple. Sure Richies gets it done quick and there's no pissing around but you don't get the most bucks for someone's life's work of collecting junk. Other than their guarantee they provide Richies formula has a tough time congruing with certain types of farm sales. Yes a large well looked after farm with lots of late model iron in good condition is a fit. A farm with older iron, lots of little stuff, and simply a bit junkier then Kramer is better suited. I remember a certain large operation here with a line of abused iron went through Richies and understandably it was a wreck but surmising it would have done better with the other because; no backloaded buyers fee, kramers pushes for more if it is weak, and who can say no to Scotty. Richies needs the higher fees to cover their outlay and probably their guarantee while kramers don't have that. They can run lean and mean. I really have no qualms with either outfit they do a good job it's just they're more suited to different types of auctions.

                        Black powder,

I have the same machinery investment style!
I do find it interesting that after 30 years a machine can still do the work it was built for. Eventually there will be failure, probably at the worst time possible.
I am quite puzzled by the cost of new machines and how they are traded so early for newer ones. I do suppose once a farmers holds the machines too long they lose value for trade in.
